erm, the numbers and letters in my key were very different looking.

maybe take a pic of part of your key and see if we can decipher it for you?

yep if you look at it carfully the letters/numbers are actualy very differant. a S looks like a S and 5 looks like a 5 same with the rest of them. as for example S is rounded off at both ends but 5 is perfectly flat on the top.

Ok I spoke to soon.

My SE key was well printed and easy to see.

My CE key is a nightmare. Tried 5 different combos. One told me it was a unique key (already activated) the others simply came back as invalid. I have emailed GOA, but has anyone else had any luck in the same situation?

Actually it's more like 2^7 = 128, but with their current system I guess that's bad enough.

Here's what I did:
I first entered what I thought it said, got a "didn't work".
I then tried to switch all the Z/2s to Z, didn't work either.
Then Z/2 back to 2, 5/S to S instead, Z+S, etc.
Then I read through the e-mails telling me what I'd tried and failed with, and found that on my first attempt I'd made the mistake of thinking that a (very obvious) K was an X, tried it again as I'd tried the first time, and it worked.

The moral of the story: You're more likely to make a typo due to own stupidity than due to odd Zs.
