Students: Summer Work

WARNING RANDOM SH1T & MAY MAKE NO SENSE​

any other students have difficulties getting summer work ive rang up several ppl 2day to be told there is nothing left my own fault for leaving it late i know but i rang up the local factory (it accutally has thousands of employees strange for ireland i know hehe) and they say nothing left. i rang them up a month ago aswell they said to call back at certain date and i did and got form and left it in now they say no jobs!!
There isn't many jobs left, at the min i think i can work in 2 places both of them are bars:

Bar 1 -5.33Euro hr, 8hrs a day, 5days a week. Could have to work any time day, any day a week. Only get 1 weekend a month off (suxs or what). They wont let me off for football which is a big thing where i live, play for my gaelic footie club, considering im just after missing alot of the season through broken collar bone i dont want to miss anymore!!!

Bar 2 -[/I] £3.50-£4.00sterling. Handy number, get off for football and the like. work friday nite one week sat next week (so going out doesnt appear to be much problem) only problem wit this bar is i wont work near enough. as im only starting out i will get v.little hours. my bro used to work there said it goes up if im capable and stuff. he said he loved working there and all.. little as maybe 15/20hrs a week (sux)

Also in that main factory i rang up one the head bosses he said he try get me a job.. he did get me job last yr fairness but it was worse possible job. 12hr shifts working with ppl who couldnt speak english dam forigeners coming here lol :touch: checking glass bottle for defects in them and stuff..(become deaf with smashing of glass and getting cut and bleeding alot was regular tbh). They also gave 2 20min breaks 1 30min break in a 12hr day is rough. checked millions of bottles.. i ended up quitting after about 6 weeks i pocketed £880 for my time (not bad for student imo) it was the worst job in the factory all the other employees told me so it just wasnt me.

What do you think, take Bar 1 offer, take handy bar2?, hold out for the factory and pray i get an easy enough job. I like my drink and social life i tend to go out most weekends and spend in the range of £60-100 a nite lol.. so bar2 would be difficult to fund my habbits!! Bar 1 wouldnt allow me to have a fun summer at all.. and make my friends pissed with me for no footie. Factory job may never come and it may be hell on earth again. HELP! :touch:

Im sure there is hundreds of spelling mistakes and grammer and bad sentance structure but at this moment in time i couldnt give a monkeys​

Try and see if you can't find any factory were you could get some nice nightshifts Atleast here in Denmark you get an extra bonus for working nightshifts.
I work on Arla (a danish/swedish dairy plant) and i get about 160 DKR / hour, which is about 22 EUR. So in a month you can earn about 4100 EUR, and that aint bad as a student

But good luck finding a summerjob

PS. I would probarly choose bar nr.2, bar nr.1 sounds like a nazi bar

rofl @ factory only 2 20 min breaks and one half hour???? boy dont tell the 12 hour-whores where i work they only get half hour for lunch and one 10 min break (im lucky i only work 9hrs with one 30min and one 10min, yay!)

i'd go for bar 2 if i had to its always better to be happy where you work than earning more but never have time to spend it and being miserable, however cant you just sell a kidney on ebay or something? (that way youll make money and save too as will take less beer to get you drunk, yay me!!)

lol etz those are terrible breaks, are at least ppl around here think! the ones on the 8hr shift in factory get better breaks that the ones on 12hr shifts (logic?)

i could be a tout on ebay and sell tickets for music festivals and stuff! yea but i could die with no kidney
i still dunno what to do bar 2 would be great if i could get more hours - also i could keep it on after summer so still work when at college at weekends and maybe 1 day a week

You must have a talent, right? Join an agency then. Tell them the hours you can work, and what you can do, and see what they can do for you?

If you can install and play camelot, then you could easily be an installation engineer, or software upgrade rollout, or even just working at a helpdesk you can earn loads and not actually know much at all

When i got my first job in IT, i blagged it. By the time i gave it up (11 years - it ate my SOUL!!!) i realised i was only doing it cos i could.

It depends on what you're studying towards too - if you can channel a part time job towards the door you need your foot in, then do that! If you want to go into catering, then go for a fast food restaraunt - they'll train you for Health and Safety for nothing. Want to be designer? Get a job at some clothes retailer or sign makers - it all adds up, and if you get enough strings to your bow, you can turn it into a guitar!

to leech on my savings account, this past year i have done pretty much nothing cept the odd temp job. i have been earning just enough to keep me going. living with mum still pays for food etc. i just pay net bill and work for my dad 1day a week for rent. the rest goes to whtever.
dont get me wrong i have looked for proper jobs.
signing on for jobseekers allowance now tho. i may finnaly get a job.
tbh who cares about money. just sell all ur possesions cept ur pc and go find a unguarded phone line sumwer construct a house around it out of cardboard and ur set

If its even a half decent one it will have a careers type thing, ask them about placements RELEVANT TO YOUR COURSE, working in bars is shit, it pays fuck all and the hours suck worse than teh seel, I just got a job doing driver testing under linux and earn nearly 8 quid an hour 40+ hours a week, its not the most intersting of jobs but it pays well and I got to piss about and learn more about linux for the enxt couple of months, get a real job, get some real money, and get some experience. Experience is key in the job market these days!

Working in bars rocks, been doing barwork for 1year+ now since i left school and loved (nearly) every minute of it get paid to stand and chat with your friends then go clubbing with them when you finish.. what could be better :O

I hear that Tesco's pay £8.50 an hour for the night shifters btw.. not bad at all

Hah your irish ya pup, same situation as yourself. College student needing a job for the summer, tried everywhere else first but im gonna go with Tesco, minimum wage is decent this side of the border, €7.50 an hour, tho tesco pay a bit more, and alot more for night shift.
