Stuck on Follow Freeman

Okay - just started the level, have a hand full of people including Barney following me. We have to enter the mansion but there are force fields up and some big weapon is nuking, or trying to nuke, me and my people.

Presumably the solution has something to do with the gravity gun and the car, but I fail to see what I have to do... Help please !

And yes I know I suck, but my gaming time has mostly been taken up with EQ2 hence I've not got as far into HL2 as I would have liked. Some of it is excellent (Ravenholme was truly scary) but some of the mini-games, especially the driving levels, were soooo crap.
