Initially I was very enthusiastic about this game, then was put off by some average-looking vids.. and now after playing the demo off the marketplace I'm pretty intrigued.. well worth checking out if you haven't, it seems pretty uber.

Looks like it could be pretty darn fun so long as they've managed to iron out the odd kink and stave off things getting repetitive.. and so long as you can put up with Tequila sliding over every table in sight ;) The cinematic style was quite kewl, thanks to Woo and Chow Yun..

Very tempted.. this demo appealled to me a lot more than that for Blue Dragon - have just never been able to get into that style of RPG =/

Awaiting teh Bioshock demo.. and have the Darkness to start in the meantime ;D

Was wondering what everyone else thought?

EDIT: Just noticed the comments on the Marketplace thread, wewt.

I kinda of enjoyed the demo, its no Max Payne thats for sure but its enjoyable on its own merits, they still have a lot of work to do to the game. But saying that I will prolly end up buying it anyway cause its the nearest thing to a next gen Max Payne and it has Chow Yun Fat in it (Shallow I know).

It's apparently going to be out on PC as well. And it has online modes with all the bullet time stuff, something that payne was lacking without mods.

Aye, the demo didn't seem as simply darn sleek and polished as Max Payne.. but then again, its only a demo and I never played any of the MP demos..

I like the idea of the online avec bullettime, Max was always missing multuiplayer =/

What mods gave Max Payne multiplayer? Never came across those!

I thought it was extremely linear and the bullet time crap was used for the hell of it and soon got tedious.

Thought it was rubbish and certainly not next gen. Max Payne has a much better atmosphere and I didnt get bored of Max, I didnt feel the urge to even complete this demo but did anyway :p

none buit there were a few user made mods that were really polished for both games, if either mp game had mp then we woulda seen some very decent mp stuff as well.

Why is linear always such a bad thing?

I get tired of all the games trying to do the non-linear "massive-roaming" environments when they're just unncessary - when you've got a mission to do/lives to save, why tf do you want to wander around the in-game shops and pretend to be a real person? =/

Playing the Darkness atm.. enjoying the main plotline, but just finding the side missions and the attempted free-roaming element boring.

Would prefer the time and money was put into making the linear/plotline experience better tbh :twak:

I finally got this one down and played it last night. What great fun. It's been a while since I've simply enjoyed a game for what it is.

I loved the 'Tequila Time' ;) and the Tequila bomb thing was great. Use the precision shot to shoot guys in the balls. It's great fun.

I was pretty much sold by that point, but the trailer at the end of the demo sealed the deal.

I'll be a getting a copy of this, even if it will probably only take a few days to complete.

Avoid the vampire demo. I got killed twice in 1 minute and deleted it ;)

load of shit imo. i got sick of my screen turning a shitty colour at every given opportunity. the bits and bobs are nice but it takes away from the flow. its either an action game or a slow paced game, it cant be both ffs!

Funny, because the slow-mo is one of the best features imo. I loved it when they used it in Max Payne and I think they've done an even better jbo here.

I don't believe that it will take anything away from the action. I'm not saying this will be game of the year or anything, but I'll sure have a laugh playing it.

Saying that, I think I may go back and play Max Payne 1 & 2 again today ;)

Played the demo, took me a little while to get used to the controls but I quite like the game now.

From playing with the demo, it's not great but it's certainly playable. My only concern is that the MP won't be any cop and that's what I'd want to play.

Got to agree, the game has potential.

Combat is fun, simple and you know what you see is what you get. I do like the level of destruction you can meat out in a level due to the physics engine and that with tequila time makes killing enemies a blast.

On the other hand i found diving a little disjointed sometimes, it could do to 'snap' you to surfaces at time which while taking control from you slightly would increase the fun of going over surfaces. Also the demo level was pretty samey and bland.

Looks good overall though, and those issues are nothing that cant be ironed out before release. One to watch even if not a classic.

I was worried about that =/

I don't normally play games for loooong periods of time in one go, so am tempted to pick it up as I want something new.. but then I don't want to spend money on something I'll only play once and not enjoy all that much :x

Was looking forward to this though, I liked the demo and all the ideas..

waiting on the ps3 version that comes with hardboiled on blu ray

alot of peeps inc die hard fans of the game are saying it gets very boring fast, many are pointing out its not the best looking game using the unreal 3 engine. theres also been some heft figures banding around about how much it cost to make

got round to playing this game proper, the vlad mission bit with frigging trip lasers all over the place is doing me head in.

first few bits were ok, but what nice way to shit over hard boiled. a movie that has preety much none stop fluid gun shootouts. and this bollox where you gotta watch wtf you do is not fun at all. max payne 1 and 2 were and are far better than this shit

Not played that much yet.. not had it long and not had enough chances to play it.

Seems ok.. nothing amazing but still pretty fun as a filler.

Is a bit too chaotic with enemies spawning everywhere at times - not always that straightforward to work out wtf the guy is.

Is a complete and trade in again :)

Its fun.. but its one of those games where you have to keep playing certain bits over and over until you get them right.. bit annoying, gets in the way of enjoying things.

Not that far in yet, just starting chaper 4 of 7 so not reached the museum or the trip mines..

Just want to get it completed before DMC4 lol :)
