Strange refresh rate problem

whenever I run Quake2 now (after a fresh install of W2K), it always seems to switch the refresh rate of my monitor down from 75Hz to 60. which is a pain in the bum because I have to ALT-TAB and reset it again before I can actually start playing 8(

ive got an NVidia GF2-GTS.. if that makes any difference...

anyone got any ideas? I know its something glaringly obvious.

have you got v-synch enabled? what does your frames per second read?

It's a Win2k Nvidia bug.

There is a patch for it which requires setting the refreshg rates at different resolutions. One of the reasons I still use 98 for gaming
