I have XP up and running, however I now have a very strange network problem.
On restart, there is no network, I cannot ping other machines and there is no access to them, the browser doesn't work as I can't access the firewall/router machine.
If I go into network properties and change a setting for the LAN card, it waits a while and then full network access is achieved, I get my filesharing and internet sorted, runs fine.
As soon as I restart/logout, its back to square one.
I have a static IP address for the XP machine and specify the firewall/router machine as a gateway and DNS, just like I had with Windows 98SE before.
Nothing is actually wrong with the network, it works fine once I get it running, its only the initial connection I have to "kick start" by using the hardware properties of the LAN card via Network Properties.
Any clues ?
