Still the flicker...

What is it with the flicker. I've stuck in a brand new herc gf2 pro 64Mb and still get that flicker when moving. Last night I was comparing it to Quake 3 (same engine), trying both at all sorts of resolutions and STVEF just isn't as smooth as Q3. Anyone else notice this or have any suggestions on tweaking Voyager performance?

At present I've settled for 12 hundred something by 1024 - which is the highest it will go (same for Q3). The next 2 up don't work at all, but that could be the monitor - I think you need a triangular one for 1600 by 1200. Other games have different higher res multiples that work fine - the top 2 on Q3/Voyager are wierd.

One last note - you can do some awesome resolutions with a 64Mb graphics card.

Try this:

seta r_swapInterval "1"

It seems that vsync is disabled by default if you have a geforce2 gts or my. The above command reenables it.

put it into the config, hm_config.cfg

or

type in the console: /r_swapInterval 1
press the '`' key to bring down the console.

thanks,

does it happen all the time?
what I mean is this: if there is a flashing, blinking or otherwise strobing light rendered on screen _and_ you have vsync disabled strange visual effects can occur. Afaik the only way to get rid of that is to enable vsync.

No it's just flickering lines when moving on some of the textures - mostly the blue and red colours. Every other game I have is crisp smooth.

The best example (or should I say worst) is on the Geothermal map - if you go into spectator mode and look at one of the blue or red towers at either end and then move left or right while still facing it the flicker really stands out. But you get it on everything really in various degrees.

I'll try the command but IMO it may use the Quake 3 engine but you can see it doesn't implement it as well.

Thanks alot! No more Flickering!

Thank you alot of this post. I have have the flickering 'problem' for along time now, and originally thought it was my Voodoo 3. So what did i do? I bought a G-Force 2 gts 32DDR. And to my dis-belief i still had the same problem. I have been worrying about what the problem was for a while now, and now i know! Thanks again, that has really solved a mystery.

Thanks alot,

Jamie
