I rate Sam Allardyce way higher than McClaren. But it'll be interesting to see what he can do. Svennis is shit anyways so can't possibly get any worse.

Well if they have to have an English manager then rather him than anyone else. Atleast he knows the international scene. Just relieved it wasn't the self-promoting Allardyce. No idea why he ever thought he should get the job and his comments about it being the most disappointing day in his life are hilarious. What are his qualifications for the job? Let's see...he's English and he's done reasonably well at a small club. By that token you could have Adrian Boothroyd (Watford), Steve Tilson (Southend) or even Roy McFarland (Chesterfield). Just a pity that the person we should have had (Guus Hiddink) is now with Russia and will give us a dicking in the Euro Champ qualifiers.

Allardyce has done more in my eyes, Mclaren is a yes man that is why they have opted for him. Everyone is saying Middlesbrough are having a great season by all accounts Mclaren hasnt finished very high in the premiership at all for the money he has spent.

He is a good coach but Allarydce knows his stuff aswell, its Brian clough all over agin the FA dont have any balls and want someone that will just nod and not upset the applecart of Englands Prima dona players.

Oneill has done nothing, you cant even count the Scottish Premiership because the league is a farce. He bought average Premiership players and they romped the league so nothing really solid to go on. That said I do like Oneill and I think he would have handled the players better than Mclaren.

i wish him luck in his new job but i dont think its the right man for the job. he comes across as a yes man and will probably be a sven mark 2 after being his number 2 for so long. Also i think hes only been good for the last 6 months for midd'b, think you should have a lot more to you than a couple of good cup runs!

Martin oneil would have been my choice but never mind :)

was quite optamistic about the world cup too but that seems to have been blown away without no roo or 100% fit owen. Instead we have peter (im 6'7 tall but cant jump or head the ball) crouch :eek7:

Don't know whether to laugh or cry that you'd talk about Allardyce and Clough in the same breath :twak:

I think those who wanted Allardyce have never had the misfortune to watch Bolton play live :p

Allardayce should never be allowed to manage England. Fuck that, kick our way and long ball our way to euro/world cup???? We will go out in the groups. He wouldnt know what to do with a team of flair players. His tactics consist of "kick lumps out of em in midfield lads then hoof the ball upto Kevin Davies"

Clough and Allardyce have the same passion and enthusiasm that was my reference :)

Allardyce picks the best team and Tactics for the opposition they are playing, cant really fault him for that. Lets say Boro lose the uefa cup final no europe next year? not unless they get an intertoto spot becuase they have been mediocre in the league.

Clough was a legend. I remember a story Roy Keane told. Think it was an FA cup final and Keane gave the ball away in the first half and the opposing team scored from it. As he walked into the changing room at half time Cloughy stuck one on him and put Keane on his arse, he stood over Keane and said "dont you ever give the ball away again you little shit". Second half Keane ran the show and Forest won!

Heh, it was a couple of fans and the best thing is that after the incident it was the fans that came to the City Ground and apologised to Sir Brian (Should of been Sir Brian in my view) for invading the pitch. Naturally being a Forest fan I deem him as the best manager ever.

On a side note I think some day that Stuart Pearce will take the reins at England and he will be a Brian Clough style manager himself.

I don't think we should condemn him before he's even started the job.

He might not have been everyone's personal choice, and there may very well have been better people for the job, but he was selected by the FA, and that's that.

No point discussing now who would have made a better manager. Decision's been made. Time to move on in my opinion.

We should accept it, wish him well, support him, and just let him get on with the job. Lets support our boys in the World Cup.

Lets not look for excuses if we lose a game or blame this and that. Get enough of that as it is.

GOOD LUCK MAC ! SUPPORTING YOU ALL THE WAY m8 !

Sadly I think that is the way it will be, especially in the media. I was watching him leave his home to head down to the F.A. on Sky Sports News and the way the press were jamming cameras up against the window of his car just sickened me.

Like you I wish that the media would sometimes just give people a break and let them get on with what they have to do.

But thats naive if we're being honest with ourselves.

Nothing new or surprising there.

He's the new kid on the block. All eyes are on him.

Would be the same with whoever got the job.

We all know the score. The media are out there to bring headlines and whether we agree with their intrusive and persistent methods or not, they ain't gonna go away, they aint gonna give anyone a break, and being able to handle that kind of pressure is something that comes with the territory.

Its like trying to separate big money from football. You can't. Similarly you can't separate media instrusiveness from players and managers.

Gonna rep ya cos I know what you mean and I do agree with your sentiments in a general way.
