Guys my ickle shade is not going to be a BG char and therefore his current stealth is only

15+5 is this good enuff for BG1?

Does the See hidden skill work on this stealth? ie i cant see chars with higher stealth if theyre hidden?

As a Nightshade you will have 'See Hidden' when you have a base of 16 stealth. So you won't be able to see the other Assasins easily. Archers though, should still be see-able from miles away. If you want to have a bit of fun i should spec to 16 stealth, wether you have 15 or 16 stealth in PvE it won't matter much.
If you go for 15 Stealth you will have trouble beating other Assasins because they can get their PA/BS2 off easily.

Cheers

I personally swear by 19+5 stealth. That puts you on an equal footing with every other stealther who has maxed stealth, and means you can't be spotted so easily by them. There are a lot of people who don't go to 19 stealth so you'll not be too bad vs them, but at least with infs gettign so many spec points, it's not a problem for them going that high, and so you'll find yourself getting perfed a lot more than usual than with 19+5 yourself. Whilst 16+5 would be ample vs non-stealthers, there are so many sb's and infs around these days, you probably wouldn't make it to the non-stealthers anyway. If you group a bit though, you can probably get away with lower stealth

Paganite lv 24 Shade

Looking at his sig i think he can better level on.. 15+5 at 24 will only make you hate your shade in RvR ( if this is his first experience ).

Cheers

The ability you are on about isn't "See Hidden", it's "Detect Hidden". See Hidden allows you to automatically detect stealthers who don't get Detect Hidden, i.e. Archer classes and minstrels and costs 8 realm skill points. Detect Hidden increases your stealth detection bubble, but not a great deal against other Assassin classes. If I recall, stealth is basically worked out against other Assassin classes as, your total Stealth level (20 in this case) against the enemy level (usually 24), so, you are going to find it tough to kill other Assassins, but you should be ok against non stealthers, Archers will be a bit of a grey area for you, especially if they are just BG alts and have high stealth. The thing about stealth is, the bubble pulses something like every 3 seconds, so even someone with no stealth ability has a chance to spot you if your stealth is fairly low, I know I have spotted a fair few with my Sorc, simply by being in their bubble for over 3 seconds. Anyway, hope that doesn't muddy the water too much. :p

And another hint for all the newly made bg stealthers out there... don't wear a guild emblem cloak, you may as well paint a target on your back if you do!

stealth bubble

The detect hidden ability allows for assasins to double their norm stealth view range ie. if u cud see a scout 5 meters away its 10 meters cause of DH etc. Furthermore never go above 19 stealth in BG1 if u have +5 items cause stealth does not work above lvl afaik :great:

hiyas,
regarding archer classes, how high stealth u got there guys?
was wondering bout a BG ranger template, and from my shade experience i feel sorry for those archers, as i can see most of them from miles...
So my actual questions is:
how high stealth most archer have
and if at all, is it worth to put any points in it, besides some left overs (not speaking here about the stealth movement speed, but purely the "detect" aspect)

Seeing as most assasins have 16+ u cant really rely on bein invisible to them...only other classes...my ranger had an awesome archer spec in BG

recurve 24+5
stealth 15+5
pierce 9+5
Pathfinding 15

And lemme tell u...i hit for huge amounts of dmg...we talkin 300+ on casters and occasionally on non-casters... on crit-shot ofc...i hit a yellow con scout for 390 on a crit durin a keep defence :D

and most often hit for 150'ish on norm hits..and i used the best arrows and switched to match armor :)

my hunter spec for BG1 (Ickle Knebitar - capped out a couple of days ago so not there any more unfortunately) is:

Bow 24+3
Spear 18+5
Stealth 12+5
Beastcraft 8+2

Im not sure how good the spec was in actual fact as although I got a lot of kills I also died loads - granted mainly due to the fact that I suck but also due in no small part to the sheer numbers of NS or Infils in BG1 that took offense to my breathing the electronic air :p

I would probably go for the same spec again if I took another hunter through BG1 - although I would use better armour/weapons and maybe get some SC imbues put in there.
