Question Steak and Ale Pie?

Seeing as we have a load of beeficianado's here I thought I'd ask - what Ale do you use in Beef and Ale Pie?

I've got a load of beef basting in Hobgoblin at the moment but is there a better one to use?

Frog Island, Croak and Stagger.

Its sold all pretty much only in Northampton so no good to you

Anything dark will do really, I have even used Guinness before.

Knobgoblin's a good one I'd reckon, I think I most recently used Bombadier as that's what was to hand

Guiness or Newcastle Brown.

Guinness. Stouts or porters are best.

A good stout or dark ale is the best, the flavour of the lighter ales tends to be over powered by the rest of the dish.

Theakston's Old Peculiar.

Leave Guinness out of it - it's mass produced tosh
