SST is indeed a terrific film.

The whole black comedy side; the action and the corniness make it so entertaining.

Oh, and the communual shower scene! If only Denise Richrads were in there as well, that would have capped the film off v nicely. ;)

As long as you have Wild things in your collection then you could do some digital cut&pasting to put her in the scene ;)

Wild things was so bad it's frightening. It really is only worth having to wank over the threesome scene.

SST is so bad it's good :D

I love the bit with the brain at the end, where they're sticking stuff into it, "examining" it :D

Didn't people pay to be extras in this film, or am I thinking of another title?

It appears the world has gone mad. Starship Troopers is utterly dire.

I do seem to remember Starship Troopers being indeed verily shit indeed. Where did all the nonsense come about it being good appear from?

Some of the worst acting in modern day history that isn't from Keannu Reeves and... hmm lost interest..

Damn awful. Funny yes, but not in an intentional way.

You really need to get a clue. Are you even aware of who directed it? If you were, you'd quckly realise how wrong that statement is.

Shows that a lot of movies fail (in the mainstream) because they fly too high.

So if say.... Tarantino directed a godawful laughable film with nothing remotely outstanding about it, it would make it a good film? I like your reasoning, but no.
I didn't care to find out about it.

I recently got Dog Day Afternoon for £8 from HMV on DVD, now that's a film worth mentioning :)

But it was funny in an intentional way, so your point is stupid.

God dammit, Jonaldo. ST is intentionally corny and intentionally funny. There's no accident here at all. It was cast from teen flicks and soap operas, ffs. They wanted a certain type of wooden acting and an over-the-top unbelievable situation. 'Brain bugs' ffs? Its ridiculous and the producers and directors know it.

This film is brilliant simply because it made so many people like you say "Man, this film is shit because its so corny and I'm better than them because I see how bad it is."

No offense, buddy but the laughs on you.

I remember having this exact same argument with my mates when we saw ST in the cinema. Half of us 'got it' the other half were bleating about how crap it was.

That said, Dog Day Afternoon is a very good film.

It was an ok film on the basic level of an intergalactic shootemup. It tried to be clever in depicting a fascist regime (ala Nazis), but didn't quite pull it off. This may have been due to studio cuts, but in any event it didn't work.

IMDB.COM

When faced with an imminent attack by the bugs, General Owen (Marshall Bell) sarcastically asks Lieutenant Jean Rasczak (Michael Ironside) to shoot him, which he nears does until Rico intervenes. In Total Recall (1990), Bell's character (George/Kuato) is killed by Ironside's character (Richter). Both films are directed by Paul Verhoven.

I dunno why I just thought that was cool. :D

Decent film, I really enjoyed it when I first saw it after school 5 or 6 years ago. Think I went to see it twice in the same week, but it was kind of boring the second time around. Watching shitloads of aliens swarming that outpost was incredibly cool, especially when you see those big fire breathing lava bugs ambling along in the writhing sea of little arachnid types. Someone ought to make a multiplayer game where you can do stuff like that when hardware is up to coping with it.

Thought the end was a bit shit but then endings normally are unless your bladder is about to explode or you were sitting next to someone particularly obnoxious in the cinema. SOE ought to merge the 3 sides in Planetside and program in the aliens from starship troopers with some kind of epic storyline. That'd be great.
