Does anyone else watch this? The replacement from the film for Jackson is ok but the jump from Kurt Russell to Richard Dean Anderson is a bit silly, but he is the best character out of them all.

It's great, and watched by many or it wouldn't have been going for so long.

Didn't like the film much, and Kurt Russel? Pfft, he was awful.

I think RDA is funny as fuck, today I watched the episode where O'Neil and T'ealc repeat the same 10 hours for about 3 months and they start doing the groundhog day thing like playing golf through the stargate and riding bikes through the base.

RDA is so much better at Jack O'Neill than Kurt Russell ever was. As I recall they brought back at least one actor from the film into the serie, can't think why they left kurt russell out.

Prepare to be out~dweeb'd...

I've got SG-1 series 3,4,5 on DVD with a few quality smatterings from series 1 and 2 as well (all in their own leather bound DVD wallet).
I love SG-1 up until series 6, which was seriously weak imho, no idea about series 7 yet (currently showing in the US / Canada).

A series 8 has been rumoured as well and the spinoff Stargate: Atlantis is 'sposed to start next year.

RDA is a Faaaaaar superior Jack O'Neill to Kurt Russels stereotypical square jawed brooding all american hero. The injection of lighter elements into the series as a whole is great as well, the Groundhog day episode mentioned by ignus (called "window of opportunity" if U wanna see it) is a great example.

I can understand U chucking out ya series 1 box set Yaks, it was still very much finding its feet until series 3 (like most Sci-Fi series tbh) but there are some good epi's in there, t'would be a shame to dismiss the whole thing based on the early shows (or the God awful film for that matter)

Did U like season six?

It did have its good points I thought but overall was very poor.

it started ok, then was kinda poor for most of it, the last few episodes were fairly good tho. Think it lost something when michael shanks left and they replaced him with corin nemec.

Shanks leaving: Yeah although I think that was more to do with writing than with the character of Jonas.

The first couple of epi's he was quite funny and interesting and then about 1/2 way through the season (possibly after Shanks made it known he'd come back?) they seemed to use him less and less until eventually he became nothing much more than a plot exposition tool :\

Not to mention the stargate in his backyard, and the collection of p90's under his bed.

Speaking of which has anyone noticed that the SG teams never seem to use the right weapon for the right enviroment, normally they use MP5s and P90s in open areas where the limited range would make them less effective than an assualt rifle, and I could have sworn I saw one team using m-16s indoors.

P90 is designed for a backup role for combat medics etc rather than any other role.

Horray!
Season 8!
Thank god for that, I was dreading a movie to finnish off the cliff hanger that season seven ends with.

Only just got season one on DVD (I've seen it all on TV already), I love it to bits, far more entertaining than the staid Star Trek franchise.

I absolutely loved the film, got it on DVD, but I really tried to get into the series and failed, got the first DVD for it, didn't do anything for me, it was a bit bland and I only watched occasional episodes.

They tried to make it Star Trek like at one point with those mechanical virus like insect things taking over earth, didn't have the same feel to it.
