LucasArts and Sony Online Entertainment have announced Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed will be release on October 27th, 2004.

Haden Blackman, producer, LucasArts: "LucasArts is thrilled with the Jump To Lightspeed expansion, a product of our strong and ongoing partnership with SOE. This first expansion delivers the fun and engaging space combat experience players expect from Star Wars."

Jump to Lightspeed adds a whole new level of fast-paced game play to the established Star Wars Galaxies ground-based MMORPG. Thousands of players will now be able to join their friends in exploring and battling across 10 deep space sectors in over 20 different customizable spacecraft, including iconic X-wings, TIE fighters and "Millennium Falcon" type transports.

Having played the beta, JTL is about as ready for release as SWG itself was last year. Infact, the beta felt so buggy that it was more like playing an Alpha. I was going to go back to SWG for this, but now i really doubt ill bother. :I

SAS, change the release date for UK, seems like Activision UK decided to be wankers... JTL will be on UK/ Europe shelves on Nov 5th.

also, its not as bad as Jarakin makes out, i was in beta, made imperial ace pilot within a week... had lots of fun taking random players up into space in my VT-49 Decimator, and the shipwright profession is every crafters dream come true...

the space zones are amazing (but slightly small :/) and the AI in the final days was actually very good... once they stopped using uber missiles to 1 shot you.

If you played SWG a while ago and left because wanker CM's or FOTM def stackers killed PVP for you then this is your chance to get your own back... most of the "leet" kids dont know what to do without the "i win" button (they moaned on the beta forums for weeks to get /follow to work on player ships! the devs said FO :D)
