Standoff's (I like 'em!)

Just thinking.

I played a game of Katabatic the other day (well - about 3 weeks ago) where the game ended 1-0 after a 20 min standoff.

Now I reckon that most people would really hate this - but I loved it. It's tense and exciting because it poses different questions whilst you're playing than usually avail themselves and forces a totally different style of play.

Do you leave your base/flag carrier and try to get your flag back? Do you trust the muppets you're playing with to defend properly? Do you think that if you defend that they're capable of getting the flag back? Do you attack the gens rather than the flag carrier in the knowledge that a naked light defence force is much easier to twat???

Tribes1 became a chore a lot of the time during standoffs - but T2 has been designed to make them a lot more interesting.

What do you think?

Standoff on maps with tanks and competent defence = boring.

Yeah - but how many times do you play a pubbie game with:

1) a competent defence

2) people who actually bother to get into tanks in a standoff?

Frankly - if they are even a little lax it's not that hard to destroy a tank.
