Gamesradar has posted a new preview of STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl which includes a range of screenshots.
STALKER makes use of a decidedly Eastern Bloc motif, what with it being set in Chernobyl - the site of 1986's nuclear disaster. Set in the radiation-soaked no-man's-land surrounding the burnt out reactors, the game is based around the idea of poachers - called Stalkers, natch - entering what is known as the Zone in search of artefacts and anomalous formations peculiar to the area that are highly sought after by certain (presumably rather dodgy) organisations and groups. The huge game world is set across 30 square kilometres, with complete free-roaming, non-linear exploration possible.
The game looks graphically stunning, but could this turn out to be a basic run of the mill FPS game?
A forum thread about the game has started up over here.
