This game is being made in partnership with Nvida, it apparently will take advantage of the sexy graphics and special effects the Geforce FX will have to offer, and I know graphics dont make up for gameplay but this game does look good, just check out the screenshots and you will see what I mean.

Im guessing we are about 5 years away from playing in games that are photo realistic, and maybe 5 to 8 years away from playing a remake of Battelfield 1942 where everything is so real that it looks like your looking out a window

I downloaded the demo of it around a month ago...

Have to say im impressed with it, shame about the Skins of the Characters tho... But Scenary looks nifty

yeah but remember this game is practically being made for the GEFORCE FX, a card that is not yet available to buy, it is supposed to support the full range of special effects the card has to offer, so imagine what it will look like when you play the game on the FX

Its bad to use PCI slot 1 and the AGP slot, and the card is hidden away inside your case.

Though they are starting to get a little silly.

I believe he meant a demo movie, and the geforce fx will not be out of date within a month, the geforce 4 came out in febuary and was top daug until the radeon 9700 came out like 8months later, and i would still rather have a geforce 4 than a radeon. (Buggy ati drivers

Well, the two Radeons I have had (7500 and 8500) have worked perfectly, and still do.

Still got Geforce2 MX and will prolly still have it until I put it into another old PC.

Most folk out there dont have latest cards, do a poll on cpu and grfx card types in BarrysWorld. That might be interesting in itself.

I have a Radeon 9700 Pro, and I've had 0 problems driverwise.

Most of the horror stories seem to be from nvidia fanboys.

I'm not an ati fanboy, as I shall more than likely be ordering a Geforce FX as soon as they are available in the states, just pointing out that I have a pretty impartial view as really don't give a shit about either company.

Nice, well informed opinion you have there. I can tell you've researched the topic well, tried lots of ATi cards extensively and generally know what you're talking about.

Oh and as soon as GF FX launches, ATi are set to anounce the follow-up to R9700, which will probably eat GF FX for breakfast and be availible within a month of the anouncement. So yes, it will be obsolete within a month.

IF you mean noone will buy them a month afterwards, I doubt it.
How much are these things anyway, £200+? I'm sure every PC gamer in the land (or their parent) will fork out.

TBH i dont want games to be photo realistic, wouldnt that take away the fun/gaming side away. yes graphics are good but at the end of the day i dont want to be shootying a real life face.

*ACTUALLY* they claim that they are aiming to have it playable on a PII with GeForce II... Not sure if they are sticking to that, but I don't see why not given what they are doing...

i'm sure the game will run on older cards with no problem, but the game apparently will have special effects that are only supported by the Geforce FX.

I'm not a fan boy of Nvidia, I just have not had a problem with them yet and so havent really tried anything else, just like I have never had a problem with Asus (and so have never had a motherboard other than Asus).

Only change I have made over the years is move from Intel to AMD, and the reason for that is I had bad experiances with Intel.
