I am faced with a dilema. I have to decide which Database to store all my company's records on for the next 2 years.
Currently using an Ingres II system on Tru64 Unix Alphaserver but need to get something a bit more strategic, we're looking at storing and accessing about 7 gigs a week and running queries against upto 12 weeks at a time.
Ingres could cope with large tables if we split em and create views but I think the other 2 could cope normally. What I'm really looking for is a direct comparison of a real life situation between them but I can't seem to find one anywhere on the web. SQL is rumoured to be easier to set-up and Oracle is rumoured to be more powerful. What's the differences in performance nad is it worth the hassle moving from Ingres?
Anyone know of a site that does comparisons or has any sage advice?
Cheers,
