SPIES IN ALL REALMs V1.2. GM's

With the LOE spy thread slipping into petty insults, it is essentially going nowhere (amkes a change fo rthis fine community eh).

This thread is a starting point for all major guilds who wish to eliminate ALL psies in ALL realms from effecting PVP and how we ALL like to play the game.


By putting this to GMs only, im sinmply tring to fasdtrack thsi problem to a conclusion whcih would make a better playing envirnment for ALL of us who play thsi game.


I suggest an IRC chat with Guild LEaders of ALL realms. A structure chat on how we can eliminate spies from on our game.

Obbviously anythign we sorted would not be foolproff...but would rely mor on GMs integrety and honesty (something which I hope most of us have).

If ALL major guilds GMs can agree....NEVER to act on any outside information (we cant stop the asses who try to pass on this info really)...but if we ALL agree as GMs... NEVER to actually ACT....repeat ACT...on these cheating spied...then I feel it would be a starting point.

Is it perfect? hell no..im sure the more pessamistic among you would love to point out reasons that would make this faild....thats not what im looking for here.

Im looking for cooperation between ALL major gms in ALL realms....soemthign to start from. A point where we can say .,.....us as Prydwen players can look bak on and say 'at least we are attempting a solution' to these peopel who would spoil the game for so many.

I agree, although I thought it was important to clear up the facts about the event Durgi mentioned. Call it pride if you will.

With respect to not acting on information gained, It's a noble idea, which has my whole hearted support if all the GM's agree to it, but I think realistically it will be very difficult to implement realm wide. Even if all the GM's agree I think that the vast majority of the populous would not be happy sitting back and letting there relic go when they knew about it. In this situation it will also be difficult to draw the line, you know about a raid, whendo you then justly go into the frontier and officially report it.
As I have said I think the idea is admirable, and perhaps when the GM's have sorted out a few of the small problems raised it may even be totally operable.

I agree Vayasen that something needs to be done about this.

However, I doubt that many people will do anything to try and eliminate it.

It seems that as long as people get what they want in the game they don't care how they go about it or what they do as long as they win.

The game sadly has changed a lot and gone downhill.

You won't stop the spies anymore than you will stop people using 2 accounts to play and level 2 characters in the way they do. That is another example of people who are so determined to win they don't care who suffers in the process and of course the people in that case who suffer are their group when they are playing 2 characters they can't possibly give their full attention to either and do well for the group.

So why should they care about their realm when they don't give a damn about their group?

GOA need to address issues here and revise the code of conduct so that people cannot take the 'I will win and do as I like' attitude against the rest of us. A lot of people in the game still play with the spirit in which we feel the game is meant to be played but there are also many who simply want to win at any cost. What do they win when they spy ? what do they get out of it ? Why do I log in now with a feeling of 'what's the point of playing because I know I will get trashed by the moron's who don't care about playing a fair game' ?.

The game is full of people now who want to cheat at every opportunity and spoiling relic raids will be their sad little way of getting a kick I feel sorry for people like that. Where is the game going when all people think about is levelling to 50 and chasing rp's for a table ? The game has lost it's original meaning.


It is so sad to see this great game going downhill so badly that people are finding it demoralising to play anymore.

I hope you get a good response Vaysen but I doubt that somehow

you can't stop spies ... like if some friend of an alb who plays mid on the server, sees the guildchat, off we go ...
you just cant know in most cases, you have to rely on your experience and on the common sense of the players, who should know they're ruining the game for themselves (and sometimes for a lot more people)...

So stop all your whining with the 'lets stop the cheaters', 'loe has found a spy' and such ... its not like FPS games where you can eliminate most cheating from the leagues (well i remember in UT that they made that quite well with a few tricks ..)

Yes genius I have to agree.

Common sense will win the day and I have to say that I was part of an LoE Relic Raid a few months back and they carried it out superbly. It was a privelidge to be involved (I was an LoE member at that time)

So we just have to use intuition I guess when planning relic raids and do what Loe seemed to do so well on a previous occasion..keep it secret til almost the last minute.

The spies won't stop Vaysen anymore than any other forms of cheating that are now creeping into the game. But take heart cos a lot of us Vayasen want our Realm to do well and to be successful in our raids. We aren't all spies by any means.

Only this week I recieved a message saying 'Mids planning Excal raid tommorow'.

I have never seen this person before, never heard from him before and he hasnt been online since.

You know what, I totally ignored it. I didnt even mention to LOE officers. I find it infuriating that people all over the server are probably recieving (nothing can be done about that) but also ACTING on this COC breaking issue.

Whats even more dissapointing, is that a genuines offer to 'try' (talking to all main GMs in a irc chat) sort this issue, has apparently fallen on deaf ears.
