Spider Silk From Vendo

Last night, playing as my alt, I and a few of my proud Jormungandr guild mates, went to hunt in Vendo. A whole load of XP later we left and went to sell up. Sold of all my loot but struggled to sell the spider silk. Got the usual "You cannot sell this item." I remember reading something on this subject before (but after loads of searches on msg boards, can't find again). Is there a particular use for this silk, like crafting component?
I also remember seeing something about an NPC in uppland near the snow crabs, that would trade Hides for items.
If anyone has any ideas that would shed light on this subject, it would be greatly appreciative as I am baffled.

They fixed the spider silk in albion and gave us the bugged item instead. ALBION FOREVER!

You know, you youngsters today. In my day, we had to battle through masses of albino cavebears just to get to vendo circle, where we then had to fight past six or seven Vendo Savagers before making it to the rooms where twenty odd Vendo's were jostling to get at us. Not only that, but the spiders in my day dragged solo Kobolds away into their lair.

You've got it soooo easy now. In my day, we couldn't even pick up the silk. Sheesh, so typical of the youth today. Now you want your get your silk AND sell it?

Has anybody any seen any NPC's hanging around in uppland near the crabs, I defo read something about it on a forum.

I was one of the proud Jorm folks gerta mentioned. Unfortunately the Spider Silk cannot be sold. Wondering if there was an npc you could give it too b4 destroying it.
