ffs i hate those shows, if they had a load of fluffy yellow baby chicks on the table and said "ok you gotta eat these live!" there'd be an outcry AN OUTCRY I TELLS YE!! but just because its a bug people dont care, i've seen these kind of shows where they treat all the so called "icky" animals so badly, throwing them around, not handling them properly i.e in ways that would seriously hurt the animal, im amazed they get away with it including: frogs, rats, snakes and ofc bugs. i mean ffs where is the animal protection here? just because most people dont like them doesnt mean its ok to bite their heads off and shit, i dont like most people but im sure theyre'd be a few raised eyebrows if i went about eating them.

I see your point but let me ask you a question: do you eat meat? Or did you ever eat in one of those restaurants where you can pick the fish from the pool and they´ll cook it for you? Some restaurants even serve insects. We´re killing spiders and flies and bugs when they´re bothering us in our living room. And we don´t have any problems with poisoning rats when there are too many of them.
Or what about cosmetic articles, lipsticks, creams and the like? You know how many animals have to die before one of those new products make it to the stores? You just don´t see them, but that doesn´t make it any better.

There are worse things happening every day and tbh, I prefer someone biting a spiders head off on TV over living in the illusion that everything´s fine as long as it´s happening behind a curtain.

ok yes i eat meat (actually i have to when i was a vegitarian i went so horribly aneamic bad things started to happen) but i make sure its dead before i eat it, never picked my own fish from a restaurant or eaten a bug (well one time a fly flew in to my ice cream and i didnt see it until twas too late).

I dont kill bugs when they come in to my house if its a spider/slug/snail etc i'll pick it up and put it in the garden, if its a fly ill trap it in one room and wave it out the window. I dont trap/poison rats infact at my work they lay mouse/rat traps and i either demolish or disable them, when i go outside i always look where im going and if i do tread on a bug it always upsets me, if its raining and im out ill pick up snails and set them on a hedge or somewhere they wont get squished.

As for cosmetics/creams etc i dont really use them but any i do use is definately not tested on animals (i make sure of it) and i always buy dolphin friendly fish and free range eggs and environmentally friendly washing powder/liquid.

so as you can see im not some happy clappy hypocrite i do actually practice what i preach and i dont see why its any different the way you treat a cute fluffy creature to one that has an exoskelliton and a shit load of legs.

I never said nor insinuated that you´re a hyppocrite, sorry if my post sounded like that.
My point was, that people are actively and passively killing so many animals that one spider in a TV show doesn´t really make a difference. At least that´s true for me, because I must admit that I don´t have any problems with smashing a wasp in my living room and I also don´t have the time to care about whether the eggs on my breakfast table are coming from happy chicken. It´s a complex thing really, and this is not the thread to discuss this, because there´s a lot more to say about it.

i couldnt give a shit about killing insects, things need to die. like we have a chain of animals that eat other animals and that helps keep the population down. are we not part of that? we kill spiders and it keeps their population down etc?
