Spending money to better weps or armor?

Level 10 ranger here.
Since money is so hard to get and easily spent I have to ask advice...

I can now wear reinforced armor which is nice. The bad thing is it is much more costly that normal leather. Also in terms of melee damag after my 2-3 bow shots I need to whack down the baddie and I could use a better piercing weapon to do that. Again these too are rather costly.

So which is more important in your opinion? Better armor for taking punishment or better weapon to kill quicker? In both cases I need a lot more of those shiny little things...

Related to this; what are good monsters to hunt for money with level 10 ranger? Blackthorns are very popular and thus very camped, besides their lunantishee buddies are nasty. They also con blue to me so the XP is low.

which means that you'll need to kill that many more of them to level... meaning that you will not need new armour or weapons for that much longer and will have more money to spend on getting armour which will still be decent when your able to afford it... power leveling isnt that fun anyway, take your time :)

but you can msg me in game for some weaps. got a couple in my vault you can have :)

i'll be on as either charonel, or more likely as arrowshot.

kill the blackthorn and run :)
go down easy to arrows and youll get the group bonus plus nice cash dropped by them for their level

also i think you can get cheap reinforced at mardagh if i remember, other than that get yourself in a nice guild and theyll have high levels with plenty of cash they dont need to sponsor you through the levels :)

Charonel's hit the head on the nail there, hunt low-cons for a while (greens are good) and you'll get lots of money :) Sheeries are generally good for coin, if you can find a patch of sheeries that are green to you just sit and farm them for a few hours until you get really really bored, you'll soon be OK for money :)

Another thing you can try if you want to make lots of money is taking up a tradeskill. Weaponcrafting seems to be the most profitable (just do tradetasks all the way).

ps. If you give me (Muirob) a shout in-game sometime when I'm in Tir Na Nog I'll probably be able to make you a new weapon for free at your level.

Thanks for replies and kind offers! Perhaps I msg one of you for a little help.

First, let's see how things start rolling with sheeries(where are they?) and blackthorns. I'm gonna sit there and hunt for this evening and maybe do a task or two inbetween :)

Ouch! Who ever told me to hunt moss sheeries, my multi-ressed back thanks you ;)

They are nasty for my level although they 'only' conned yellow to me. I managed to kill them IF I got the first critical shot and the following normal shot in. Otherwise: bye bye cruel world. It was fun nevertheless (excpet the first time when I died and had forgot to bind in TNN and had to run all the way back from TNB). Got me one level up though and good money!

Just a thought m8.
oh and about cash.

msg
Nero (not atm hes still not been restored) - lvl 41 nightshade.
Mortifer (same as above) - lvl 25 enchanter.
UnderJill (currently active) - lvl 11 mana spec'd mentalist.
Tweedle - lvl 17 bard.

if im on with 1 of those i dont mind giving ya 25 gold to start ya on your trip to success.

Ahh hehe, bad luck :p I never said they'd be *easy* now did I? Wait 'til you decide to try a Rock Sheerie for the first time.... nasty, nasty, nasty little mobs :eek6:

When the moss & grass sheeries are green to you they're a fantastic source of coin :)

Thanks to some friends I have now a better armor and a better melee equipment. Bright quartz stilettos rock  I leveled to 12 and now I find moss sheeries a bit easier so i can usually take them ending up with 30%hp left.

I find it odd that there are no quests for lev 12 at all. Np though, I just group and fight my way up to 13 where many tasks open up again.

Nero and Granny, thanks for your kind offers! I'll give you a shout ingame if I decide to take up on your offers.

Btw, that level 9 pathfinding spell "Forrest Gump's running spell" or something is rather sucky. It starts to fade out as soon as its cast and burns out really soon to be of real use... And the delay to recast it is rediculously long!

my ranger could oneshot blackthorns with flight broadhead arrows, and with oneshot, the lunantishees didnt aggro, so i could just pick out the blackthorns and wait for more to spawn

but if you are lvl20-- i bet most crafters (me for example) can make you weapons for free, the material costs are so low that no point asking for money in return, unless it is really needed

i only ask money for the stuff that really costs me to make, usually from cobalt up, and some quartz too
