Does the pulse of a spell like PBT/Speed contribute to the degredation of Focus staves?

I don't mean the one off cast of the spell, I mean the actual pulse. My Traldors seems to be going down stupidly fast.

it's a bug with pbt.

1 pulse = 1 spell and that's the reason why staves degrade so fast on supp speced rms while they use pbt.

does that apply to rm speed too? that's pulse based as well.

are mythic gonna fix this? seems a lot of effort for something that decays so damned quickly. traldor's must be made of wet paper or something

afaik the pulses are not the problem since I remember reading the Runemaster TL went on Pendragon and let pbt run a few hours while crafting or something without any degration happening. Most likely the reason for the fast decay rate on Traldor's Oracle is the fact that it's not a lvl 50 item.

Wouldn't the fact it's not level 50 make it degrade slower?

as far as I know it degrades faster due to not being arcanium (or similar woodtype)

I have had both traldors and tartaros for long time and tbh i think tartaros degrades faster.. but not 100% sure about this.

Been playing a Necro on Camlann the past week.. and I only had the staff I got from the trainer at lvl5... I lost 30% con from lvl 20 - 34.. THAT is fast degrading :) ..

By the time you have worn out both Tartaros and Traldor's, I'm sure there will be a new even better staff available if you purchase Daoc: Catacombs ;)

Or they might implement some way to restore durability to artifacts as the US players have been screaming about for quite a while.

my Traldors is down to like 90 con 70 duration, and my Tartaros is down to 85con 71duration, and thats 85% rvr :-/

and yeh, i think speed takes it down too.. which sux. tho im not sure

just let traldors go to 70con, and never repair it you dont loose anything except mabey some focus, but after i repaired it, it dident seem like i had more power.

and you wont hit as hard with the staff :)

how much afk are we talking about, 2 hours with run chant on gave me no con loss on Tartaros.

So I have a hard time believing spell pulses affect the decay rate of the staves.

Bard pulse works differently from that of casters pulses.

I have heard (in a rumour kind of way) that pulses do degrade staffs...but only the ones that use power. That's because the way focus works - it fiddles the actual power cost of the spell depending on the level of the spell and the focus.

So pbt does use power each pulse, therefore it degrades as if you were casting a spell every 6/8/10 seconds. But caster speed doesn't seem to use any power, and if it doesn't it won't cause the staff to degrade. (Because the staff isn't being used.)

I've not tested this with my RM, but it seems logical. I do know running speed doesn't have a noticable effect on my powerbar. Someone test by running it and sitting in a fop wiht ful power and see if you get any power back when the fop ticks :)

think speed drains a tiny tiny bit of power, because when on less than 0% power the speed chant stops working. or atleast i think it does, long time ago since i played a class with speed :p
