Spell Focus

Could someone please explain (in detail if possible) how focus affects spellcasting. I am talking about the focus that comes on magic users staffs.

I have been searching for this information for some time on various DAoC sites and cannot find it. That may be because I am a naff researcher ;)

What I have found so far is :

focus < spell level = 110% of specified spell pwr used
focus = spell level = 100% of specified spell pwr used
focus > spell level = 90% of specified spell pwr used

I am not sure if this is correct though. I also though that it would be a little more pro rata. i.e. the bigger the difference in focus and spell level the greater the bonus + or - to mana used.

III. EQUIPMENT

III.a. How do focus staves work?

Focus staves reduce the amount of mana it takes to cast a spell. If you "delve" for information on a spell (right-click on the spell icon, and then hit shift-I), you will see a power cost listed. That cost is affected by use of a focus staff as follows:

80% cost at ( focus >= spell level )

90% cost at ( focus = 3/4 spell level )

100% cost at ( focus = 1/2 spell level )

110% cost at ( focus = 1/4 spell level )

120% cost with no focus at all in the appropriate skill

Thank you. That is exactly what I was after. I followed your link, and the FAQ (although written for a RuneMaster) was a great source of information and clarification on numerous questions I had.
