You have the proxy connect to your server. There's a command line example in the hltv readme which connects to a game server and sets the proxy port. If you don't want the proxy listed in the WON server lists then also use -nomaster.
You then have your half life client connect to the proxy ip and port. It looks like spectator mode and different keys set the way you wish to view.

I know all that.

I want to know how you know what the proxy ip address is?
it isnt the same as the Server ip is it? it cant be...
also, how can i view a list of these spectator proxys? The ingame browser is awful.

its easy :)

in your half-life folder there will be a hltv.exe - you run this file and get a dos screen, looks like a dedicated server. In there type connect 195.149.21.23:27015, where that is the IP of your CS server.

Then, through gamespy, etc... or even default half-life, connect to the IP address of the person hosting hltv, with a port of 27020.

You have to run the proxy, not BW or Jolt etc...

Example
You are on a cable connection with an ip of 1.2.3.4 and your cs server is on an ip of 10.20.30.40:27015.

You run hltv.exe and type connect 10.20.30.40:27015, this will connect the proxy to your server, where it will take up 1 free slot.

Any1 who wants to watch the server through hltv then connects to the ip 1.2.3.4:27020

tada

I think there might be a config file where you can change the name of the proxy server and its settings

Cheers mate
now i understand!
this is gonna be cool for clan games.
one more thing, how many spectators do you think i could have connected to me, if im running the proxy?
i have set max clients to 8. You think that is about right?

Cheers again
