what's best to spec in for infiltrators ?

What's the best skills to spec for an infiltrator ? any help would be appreciated.

at 24 my infi is:

24 CS
21+1 thrust
17+5 stealth
8+2 venom

all items bar the +2 venom are <=26 level items from keltoi/quests

for final spec i dont know, theres a lot to spec in. the 50 thrust style chains off an evade for a 9sec stun (nice), and really you need 50 CS 50 weap skill and 50 stealth (some with items obviously), the 50 venom lifebane is good too... its tricky, i dont know if you can get enough items on you to get stealth AND critial strike up from 39 to 50... Venom items you can always equip to apply poisons then unequip after. 39 stealth, 39 cs, 50 thrust, rest venom i was going for but better to ask a 50 infi really :)

what's ur lvl 24 spec like in RvR ? that's really my main purpose, i was in caledonia last night with my 35 thane and i got attacked by an infil and died in 2 hits! (was a little bit off full health but still) must have done over 600-700 dmg on me :/ i got hit, and by the time i turned around i was dead, didn't even manage to insta spell them :(

Which item gives you +2 Envenom, Jenkz?



At lv21, my inf has:
CS - 21
Slash - 18
Stealth - 16

But Slash and Stealth are at ~21 with items. At lv24, I'm planning:
CS - 24
Slash - 20
Stealth - 20


The way I see it is, I don't want to be in a long - melee battle, so poison is useless at the moment. Unless you want to use the 'stun' poison, to stop your victim from escaping. But again, if a fight will last more then two hits, I won't enter it alone ;)

With my spec at lv21, I can 1-shot yellow-con Hibbie casters, no problem. On my first day in Thidranki, I found a group of around 6 Hibs, I'd sneak into the group, kill a caster and leave(if you kill with the opening shot, you stay stealthed). After a few seconds, I'd go back in and kill another. Even if I am uncovered, I just hit 'sprint' and start tapping 'Stealth' a few seconds later... By the time the group realise what's happend, they have to target you, then cast, by which time you should be out of range, or stealthed again.


I've been caught out a couple of times, but all-in-all, infiltrators rock ;)

The item that gives you +2 envenom is the Virulent Fishing Hook..drops from Danaoin Fishermen in Lyonesse

im going for a lvl 24 template of:

Stealth 18
Slash 17
Evenom 18
Crit Strike 21

gives me PA, a must have, good slash, good stealth and a lvl 16 disease so he cant be healed, a 44point str/con debuff a snare and a good dot,

out in hte frontier ill get a crafter made Scrimitar probably for casters for the 1Hit kills and use 2 x short dark swords for the rest of the battle if i need em, where i will probably land disease, snare and DoT on them if im lucky :)

the debuff is useful in pve i find, and i can solo oranges at hte moment at 16 with:

16CS
15Slash
autotrain stealth (currently upto 4)
10Evenom

and a good pair of bloody short swords (essential gear). if anyone needs a jagged axe, they are good for duel wielding (used a pair from 13 - 15, nice damage, not too quick though) and since i only need 1 as a backup bit with snare on it, someones welcome to it

at 24 that spec does pretty well against most classes. it'll one hit any class sitting down, and drop any yellow con caster bar dwarves in 1 - if not drop, poison will finish them off before they can get a spell off.

22 stealth or around that mark from items is pretty essential i think, i can get in close but they can still see you at 22

im using a fine alloy guarded rapier (95% qual) and a fine alloy gauche

hits casters for upwards of 300 (most casters have around 250 hps) and midgard chain tanks for upwards of 200. add lucky crit hits ontop of that and tbh, in this patch with stealth kills still its pretty unbeatable.

for PvE it'll have no problems soloing yellows (i leveled to 24 in 1.45 with the 2x points per level, not 2.5x per level)

i can solo 50 archers (red con) without too much trouble, and casters, is a walk in the park. Tanks, small yellow, same level, if im lucky. Healers, well. go away :D

this is at level 41, with the current spec.

(from the top of my head)

Stealth 37 (+9 i think)
Slash 36 (+5-7 i think depending on weapons)
CS 39 (+1)
Envenom 23 (+1)

CS 39 gives stunning stab, last chain off PA. i cant be bothered to go for the 50 one, to get a 4-link-evade chain. Who has EVER had time for this in RvR anyway?

Envenom 24, gives me a Str/Con debuff of 55 (i think), some DoT, snare and disease... its not very high, but it seems to work pretty well, even on 50's ppl.

Slash. well, keep it high. you want damage output, right?


Final Template Looks something like:

Stealth 40 (why not get safe_fall 4 i think it is)
Slash 50 (gotta love damage)
CS 39 (possibly more, if i cant be bothered with envenom. but only to get higher output)
Envenom. well, around 40 somewhere :)

Any small leftovers, go to DW, otherwise, leave it :D

I wouldn't rely on your snare at that level of envenom too much. the different it makes to their running speed is hardly noticeable

its noticable enough. as long as i can catch up, when both of us are sprinting, its good enough. the Afterburners / musicians will outrun me anyway :)

its saved me countless times when ive had a skald on my arse after being uncovered, may not be amazing but it does the job :)

some ppl say that they have 3 weapons in their inventry, and have 3 different poisons on them (something like DoT, debuff, snare) i was just wondering, is it worth in RvR stabing someone in the back getting the 2 poisons off with ur 2 main weapons then finishing them off with the other poisoned weapon worth it ? because i tried this on a blue mob, and the weapons didn't change and it ended up killing me =(, or is this a good idea and just needs practice to master it ? any comments are good.

Use player crafted weapons as main weapon (98% quality) and the best + Thrust weapon for off-hand. Auto-trained stealth up to 20 then dumped points into it to keep in at my current level. Having no trouble at BG with this temp.

the 3 weapon thing is very doable, what you do depends on your target usually, but i think most people setup with

fine quality (stupidly high %) main player crafted weapon in RH slot, big opening damager in your 2h, a good quality +slash/thrust in your left

open with the big damager and your PA and your LH weap, hope both proc hte poisons, then switch to your RH good quality weapon to finish them off (hotbar the weapons) then complete your stle chains

i've just been checking on websites to find out about these virulient hooks that give +2 envenom and they're lvl 40 stuff, does anyone know of any lower lvl items around 20 that would give a + to envenom ?
