Specialization Help

Due to the fact that I am thinking about purchasing DAoC as soon as I get a new computer (in about 3 months), I've been reading avidly about classes and such, and I have a few questions, mainly about specialization.

1. What exactly does specialization do?
2. When I specialize something, can I still add "points" to non-specialized areas?
3. What do the different points one puts into an area (of magic) do exactly in the type of special abilities and such?
4. What do abilities like quickcast do, how often can I access them, and how do I do so?

Thanks for all the help, guys!

To answer -

1: Specialisation increases that particular skill. The higher your specialisation the more combat styles, spells, or abilities you get, and the more effective your combat styles, spells, or skills in that area. (For instance a wizard who specs Fire magic gets a new spell line called Pyromancy with bigger and better spells)

2: I think you're a little confused here - Specialisation is the lingo for putting points into things. There's no difference. Skill points are called Specialisation points.

3: See my above example about a fire wizard. Putting points into Fire magic will not only raise the effectiveness of the spells you get in your fire line, but will give you a whole new set of spells automatically as you put points into it. You just put your points into fire to get the new spells. (Like a 2 for 1 deal) All pure casters in the game work this way.

4: Quickcast and other class specific abilities are accessed through a placed button on your quickbar like any other spell. The reuse timer is different depending on abilities but quickcast is 30s I believe. Enough to save your backside in a sticky situation.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions :)
