Speccing the Gimp Again !

Now that we have /level I want to try everyone's favourite gimpoid - a Thane - out in BG1. What race is best for a Thane, where should my points go, what should I spec and am I just being a nob ?

Answers on a postcard... etc...

race - dorf

for bg i went full weapon (hammer) and full SC - imo specing shield/parry at this atage is a bit pointless (if hes only gona be used for bg) as the % to block/parry is no where near worth the extra dmg u will do with full weapon. ofc a different story at higher lvls

and i have to agree, the numbstyle or whatever its called is useless, if you dont spec it out full, its usually not worth it.

without a char builder with me, id say full (or almost?) hammer/sc and rest in shield... dont bother with parry,

go 10 str/dex/con imo, at least if you plan on getting him to 50, if not, dont do dex, do 15str 10 con.

If I'm hardly speccing shield would it not be better to go 2H ?

It would, but what makes a thane special in bg's are the SC

still i never played a thane in bg, mine was 50 when the whole bg thing started, so i cant really tell you how to spec exactly. But if noone can, you can, http://daoc.catacombs.com go inthere and sort it out

24 axe, 23 Stormcalling, 4 parry

Race doesnt matter, but troll thane looks the best

get your hand on the mourning range 2H axe, and you'll be hitting like a polearm

and when you're too far from melee range, you can use teh hammers, or bolt, depending on how good your pc is at handling lag

2H troll thane has to be the most enjoyable RvR character i ever played

at 50, it isn't so viable, but 1 shotting people is possible in the bg
