hi, just wondering whether to get one of those speaker system for my PC for crimbo. You know the ones with the 4 mini trble speakers and the one larger sub-woofer.

Does anyone have one? Are they worth the money? what kind of specs do i need?

if you listen to alot of music...but if just for gaming i'd just use a headset maybe w/ a mic if you want it

I very happy with my setup at the moment. I got one fo those speaker setups you're talking aout, but with only two speakers and the sub-woofer. The little speakers weren't the best quality, so I now run my soundcard out to my hi-fi, and then run the subwoofer through it.:D

That's just for music though, I use headphones for games.:)

Personally, I think that unless you watch shed loads of DVDs on your PC then a 5.1 system is pointless.

You are better off spending the money on something else.

I have shed loads of DVDs but I normally watch them on the telly. I have a 5.1 speaker system on my pc. Its v good for games!! Trouble is I got a letter from the council complaining about the noise....the railgun was vibrating the windows a lot. So now I only use it really early evening and resort to headphones most of the time...buy Sennheiser if you go that route instaed, they are very good.

I run my PC speakers through either my 3 grand seperates or through my Sony Micro system. Both sound a lot better than your typical PC set up.

yeaaaas, this seems to be the best option, to run the sound through a Hi-Fi, although it all looks too complicated, is it?

Nope, really easy, just need a lead with the correct connectors, and the aux ports on the back of the hifi.

Running a good soundcard into a seperate a/v amp is an easy and good solution.

Especially with cheap prices at the moment.

Creative even have a guide to doing this on their website.

Lol, no. I have my PC sound running through my sound setup, the sound I get is damn good. All you need is a 3.5m to Phono cable in most cases, shove the phono in the stereo, stick it on the right channel and you're away.
