am considering the creative dtt2500 as an upgrade to my creative fps1000 - has anyone got a pair/got any idea what they are like??

Oh, and I am looking at a daughtercard for my soundcard to allow optical connection to my existing soundcard (SBLive!) anyone know of any/how much they cost? I found one by Hoontech but it's nearly £50 and all I am interested in is s/pdif to TOSLink... anyone...

Sod the creative speakers... they are ok, but hardly ace :) I have FPS1000's, bit pants IMO - I like quality, they aint quality :)

Get some kickass videologic ones - crossfires or something, but they rool :) Bout 150 quid.

I'm sure creative do a daughterboard for SBLive values, not sure of price however... might be worth emailing creaive/checking their website for more details/prices.

I have a videologic sonic vortex 2, which luckily enough has the toslink :)

I heard that M$ speakers were a bit cak, and that the price added for the USB sound gimmik made it bad value.

Videologics are higly rated, If I had a puter worth a decent speaker set (which I dont, 3 yr piece of cyrix), I would buy em.

Also higly rated are the Labtec 2632s - which are about £80, not sure if they have a sub on em though.

One question I do have, n the event of ever getting a PC with nice sound/a processor to make 3D sound worth it, am I better off with 150 quid of speakers with a sub, OR, speading 150 quid on some high quality hifi speakers and pluging them in instead? or wont that work?

Naaaa. What you want is some proper speakers not some pretend things which have a frequency responce of a mouse. I am using RCF Monitor 4's (studio near field monitors) which are the mutt's..... A Denon amp to power them.

OTT I hear you cry.... But all I hear is crystal clear sound, whether I be gamin or watching some DVD styles. I managed to pick them up cheap from an auction. Before these beuties I had some Mordaunt Short 05i's which were linked through my HiFi setup.

Nice

No matter what anyone says the best quality and power you can get is through separates

i have 2 acousticmake floorstanders on me desk, with another 2 acoustic research speakers on top of them, all about 170 mm drivers in them.

and i have a really old amp to go with them, an old hitcachi one, might as well have valves inside, but it chucks out a good 100 watt rms per channel x 4, which is good for a small room.

Yes, Frankie, now tell everyone how fucked your speakers are and that u stuck silicone sealer around the outline rubbers :) Nice m8! :D

I wanted some ACS48's but I couldn't find none at the time... at the mo I use some Creative FPS1000's along with my sony home system running 2 front sony speakers and 2 rear aiwas off an award winning system I once had. It all sounds pretty good. Sure, it's not the best, but then again I aint rich :) Fanku for listenin innit :D

Get a hi-fi separates rig and hook that up. 1000% better than any other speaker set-up. Look at getting some Mission speakers or JPW mini monitors.

I'm running a pair of Gale Model 4 floorstanding speakers on my computer. Awesome!

Mikey out!!

My system aint seperates but its still fuckin good soundin ;) I wouldn't have brought it otherwise... Me old system was an award winner but the CD Changer totally shagged itself so I sold that system for 15 squid to a m8 (minus speakers cuz they are nice ones :) ) A nice loss of about 400+ quid there :/

I was gonna get meself a new system but I can't be arsed now... I'll spend it on a car sound system instead when the time comes :) Already got a 15" sub - ph34r! Problem though... I have no hope in hell of gettin it in a nova... arses. Anyone wanna buy a kickass 15" sub?? ;)

Medd1e.... nice one dude!! Those monitiors look swweeeeet! You know what I was saying huh!!!

Frankie.... nice. Although I would say that the amp needs renewing.... A Yamaha Dolby Pro Logic decoder amp would be ideal 4 your set up.

btw..... JBL floorstanding speakers and a Technics SUA-900 amp provide some kick ass sounds when I can be bothered to trail the 4m audio leads across the room to me 'puter!

hehehehehehee

Embattle - some interesting facts for you.
Creative soundcards pump out 4 watts RMS of power, at a raw quality that equals that of the most proffesional high end monitor recording studio systems, and those poxy 500 quid Terratec soundcards are no better.
So, a 15 quid Sound Blaster 16 PCI will get you enough quality PC side.
Sound blaster Platinum, you have the outputs though. Get a PHAT hifi capable of lossless quality, with proper gold cables, and your PC can chuck out a lot of sound with unparalled quality. You just need to find the quality in the first place, so mp3 scabbers can take their heart out their bellends :]

They are indeed, Nautilus 803s. Yummy :)

Although if you think that looks smart, check out the original Nautilus.

Hello all,
Being new to barrysworld, I decided to go through the posts and get used to everything before I post.

I bought a Boston digital Mediatheater 2 satellite/1 subwooofer setup from a local computer shop a while ago, and they are quite responsive, they take the urine out of my kenwood system.
Has anyone rated the Bostons against the Creatives etc, if so, how did they do?

Cheers.

Well I would prob imagine they are better... I went da pooter fair sunday and heard some 25 quid sub/speaker setup and it knocked my FPS1000 set up into the ground... I think I may get those Altec Lansing ACS48's like I should have done :/

HEHE! The ultimate speaker, basically. And a snip at about £30K.

and yet once again an oversized cost for a pair of speakers to run mp3s on... naa 5.000€ shouldnt be needed for a pair of speakers... ok i know the drill and i know i got a pair of b&w 603s2s myself... but if were at this costrange u should try to listen to the JMLab at the same pricerange belive me ul get ALOT more sound for the money, as the nautilus series aint much for the money, if u then wanna go to insane prices check Accapella spheron or something...

well anyhow back to realistics. Linn wall placed speakers with a cheap low watt hifi amp be sure to buy the amp second hand...

and the speakers i think they sell for about 200€ a piece. nice sound for a nice buck. sad they dont take the preasure tho...

I rate going down the shop and buying yourself hifi seperates. You need a decent amp, and decent speakers. Your setup will be cheaper, better (especially for sound quality, and music listening).

PC speakers are a total waste of money and time, they're so overpriced for the crap you get it's a joke. It's even worse than the normal standard "all-in-one" midi system you can get from alba for £100 at Currys.

If you're serious about getting a decent sound setup, DO NOT even CONSIDER buying pc speakers.
