Speaker connectors

I recently bought a system with Dobly 5.1 audio output and naturally ordered a set of speakers which I was reliably informed were "top notch". However it turns out the speakers in question come with the 2 split wire (+/-) connectors at the back while the 5.1 sockets are the single 1 hole plug thingies [note my lack of descriptive talents in this area :) ], the sub-woofer is fine as it comes with the correct connection.

So what I'm asking is, does anyone know of an adaptor I can use to convert from the 2 bare wires to the single plug sort?

Go to:

http://www.maplin.co.uk/

On left selection boxes, go to Audio/Video cables, and in the box underneath go to Loudspeaker.

In this box, there is a L/S plug to open lead - might be what you need, although there are lots of other cables to look at too :)

I'm fairly sure your local electronics shop could put new plugs on for you, if you don't have a soldering iron that is.

I seriously doubt you'll be able to just get some RCA's connected to the speaker wire and plug them in. The RCA outputs on the back of the sound card are more than likely to be at line level, to get those into the speaker you need to run them into an amp then into the speakers. The fact that the speakers have posts implies they are Hi fi speakers, and will be expecting an amp fed supply. The RCA link you've provided is just a set of 6 RCA connectors in a sheath, it saves you having 6 individual wires trailing around. The link Bids has provided is just an RCA connector going to a standard line level lead without another RCA soldered onto the end, it's for sticking your own connector on if you don't want the hassle of soldering two connectors.

Uh, things you should post;

Make of Sound card (can check what it offers), if not can you give us a listing of the outputs, RCA, S/PDIF, Optical etc..
Make of speakers (alternatively how many of them, are they powered etc..)

Hopefully with those two you can be advised as to the easiest way to get the surround working.
