I got a new mouse just because of this and it pissing me off to find out it was the mouse...

Well right mouse button was broke on last 1 anyway so did need a new 1, but anyway. Help! Or I'll have a Spaz character while playing ToA (though it is alrdy :))

Uhmmmm some more info please :)

Type of mouse, mouse pad etc :p

One problem could be the mousepad.

Optical and wireless mice?

Clean off the bottom of the mouse, lots of dust accumulates around the soft pads that let it slide on the mouse pad or table top. Also, reset the channel button (if you have one). If all that does not work, take out the battery, put it back in and you should be good to go. I notice this behavior tends to happen as the batteries get weaker.

Scanned your computer lately for viruses?

Type of mouse wont matter as I said got a new 1 and its done it with both.

Pad might be the problem since its very dirty atm but I doubt it coz it doesnt act like that.

Last was Optical but not wireless, so no batterys to be the problem there.

This 1 is Optical and is wireless, new batterys so cant be problem and new so mouse aint dirty im sure.

I shall try cleaning the pad first see if that helps coz tbh it is VERY dirty :) but atm thats the only thing that I think youve pointed out can be the problem.

LOL :D - Name and shame the virus pls.

Well it could also be the driver, removo the mouse physially, uninstall it from your OS, reboot. connect your mouse and let the OS detect the mouse and install a fresh driver.

(Or try using the original driver you got from the manufactor, do not update it)

Edit: Oh and brand of the mouse IS helpful - to check whether or not there are any known issues and fixes for it.

Well I dunno but notice how this has only started to happen to me with ToA. I never happened on SI (I only got ToA this Monday) and I think even though my computer is half decent it doesnt preform well with ToA coz sometimes when I quit game it just crashs so I have to hit restart button.

GF FX 5600 (sucky 1 but it works now coz Mythic fixed the bugs with the game)

What other info is there to give? I forget.

Drivers? Have you updated any drivers while upgrading from SI to TOA?
Have you tried running SI lately? Does the same thing happens then?

The reason I mentioned specs was because I always have WMP playing and it seems to be that every time a new song comes on the mouse goes crazy. Which I thought would have something to do with the memory of comp coz of it loading stuff.

And doesnt suggest playing DAoC without music! Thats death!

Ok that info could have been given a little earlier :)

So two things springs into my mind, except that listen to radio ;) :

1) Under controlpanel/System/Advanced/Perfomance/Advanced/ Set Processor scheduling to Background service

or

2) Set your DAoC to lower priority or set the WMP higher.
This can be done using Windows Task Manager - rightclick teh process and set the priority.

For techies further tweaks of priority can be creating by modifying the registry. good reading can be found here http://snakefoot.fateback.com/tweak/winnt/tweak.html#QUANTUM

Both solutions will decrease your gameperformance, you need to test which prioriting that works best for your computer.

I suspect it's due to applications compete for CPU time or filepage problems.

Very hard to know what's really the issues, unless you start to log what happens in your system :).

It's very strange, since I got a similar hardware configuration as you do, even a little lower...
Are you running alot of otehr applications as well? What driver version are you using? the 5x.xx doesn't impress me at all. Personally I went back to using my old 4x.xx drivers.

i take a wild stab in the dark that u got loads of spy ware installed on your pc from visiting websites.. and this is wrecking your pc's performance ...

Try running adaware or spybot or some such and see how much crap is actually running while your playing

btw which virus .. or it could be that the av software was refering to spyware stuff

I experienced the very same problem that the original poster had - mouse jittering, causing the character to spin uncontrollably if it happened while in mouselook. It only started occurring after I'd updated to the newest NVIDIA drivers.

Solution? Go back a step, to the next-newest driver version. DAoC runs smooth as silk for me now.

Prob : I know what the prob is heh.

Me and my mum have the same logitech mouse and they interfered with each other... So when my mum moved her mouse, mine would move on my screen too. But I got that 1 fixed by having them on different frequencys...

Now the prob is the jerking. I know for a fact this is caused by WMP... Yesterday I was playing and had it up and ofc every time a song changed my mouse get get alot slower and jerk around the place. But later on when I turned WMP off for a few hours it worked perfectly with no problems the whole time! :(

And I cant live without listening to music... And must be on PC coz I only have like 10 of my own Albums but 1000 songs on comp.

Apart from I clean my computer every day of Spyware stuff with Adaware heh :)

Did a AVG scan the other day and it said it had found and removed something with a similar name to the virus which keeps popping up... But it didnt go away, I left my computer for awhile and sure enough the virus pops again.

It only pops up when I leave my comp afk for some reason :s
