Spam in Fedaykin /as :(

Ok i wrote this on prydwen.se, but im afraid not enough people will read it there, this thread is mostly concerning Fedaykin alliance -but a word to all spammers. Have in mind i was a bit frustrated when i wrote it, and im not hiding anything under the table if you get my meaning

Today, friday the 15. we had people spamming our alliance chat AGAIN. At first it was just annoying, because i was on fire island, and i needed to read my groupchat, which was being filled up with white spam from the alliance channel. I did read what people wrote, but i found none of it was of any use to me, more and more people began spamming stfu messages, and "Dont spam plz" and so on.

Now, if it was being spammed with LEGAL spam like rvr info, i would be happy to just turn off the alliance chat from my group chat. But that rarely happens, and thats good, in an ood way. Now i want to give out a big slap to all you people, not naming anyone, for starting the spam. Ofcourse people get annoyed and start spamming back, but the real crooks are the people STARTING the spam in the first place.
People got annoyed at eachother, and wanted to show that to the entire alliance.

I know it makes the game more interesting to chat with other people, but PLEASE, use your guild chat, make chat group, go on msn, find a public forum whatever, im not playing this game to listen to, sorry to say BS. Im playing this game because its a great game and there is alot of nice people to interact with.

Now, the alliance channel can be read by alot of guilds, and all people are not bored enough to read/write spam, and whine. This IS a problem for me, aswell as for the entire realm, if our internal chatgroups dont function, how are we gonna get the IMPORTANT messages out?

The people that started spamming should have their rights to write in /as taken away from them, or their guild be expelled from the alliance, there are some guilds following the rules, and you are making them look bad, and feel stepped upon, when other guilds dont give a shi* about spamming. Why should i follow the rules now? Because i WANT midgard to be strong, and it is, aslong as people are finding their place in the realm and working as a team.
Some people are leaders and we all chose to follow them, if daoc was one big deathmatch, and nobody worked together, i would'nt be playing it. We NEED leaders, and we NEED rules, but most of all we NEED people to understand that, or else we get rebels, acting like little children ruining the game for everyone else..

So, how do we solve this problem? -We set an example, ban one or more from writing in as, maybe for a limited time at first. I know its harsh, but thats what works. It doesnt work discussing it with them, what works is consequences, action ---> reaction. Now i only hope some people read what i wrote, and most of all i hope the spammers read what i wrote, maybe they will take this into consideration next time they piss off half of the alliance...

Since I'm inactive and no longer alliance leader, my word probably doesn't have anything to say, but I'm sad to see that this has been allowed. Rules in alliance forum clearly states the conditions about /as chat, how it should be handled and what should be posted in it at all.

Whenever you get a problem like this, contact the guild leaders/officers of the guilds involved and have them put a stop to it. Also I'd suggest taking it up on an alliance meeting as soon as possible.

Just one last thing though, I sympathize with you and I do agree that spam should be kept at a minimum at all times, and everyone should read alliance rules, I don't think this was the right approach. Fedaykin alliance chat concerns noone else than the guilds in Fedaykin, and by posting here, you've involved the whole realm.

Anyway.. as I said, I don't play anymore, just wanted to say this, hoping it might be of help to the alliance.

Thor, if you were in the CG where I was you'd understand my views on this.
I understand what was going on and unlike you I would actually name names. But I won't. I will name the guild though: RaH. Once again I might add. (Anyone other than me remember what happened to them 1-2 years back? When they got booted for not following AS rules) - Not to seem like an asshole.

It _allways_ is the one person who doesn't seem to realise what's going on. I like RaH, usually get along with most of them. But then there are the people who ruin it for everyone. That is... Lame

AS rules are there to be followed, our current AS leader just inforced a 'experimental' rule where spam would be allowed before and after prime time. (Times will be changed because of people's work schedules - I'll talk to our AS leader about it... I bug him alot .)
I'm not an AS leader. I've been banned - Several times for AS spam. Yet I follow it now because I actually have respect for the leader and don't tend to disagree with the rules.

Removing AS access of the spammers is necessary if they can't just STFU.

dont play much myself anymore but, your always gonna get some spam especialy with the size of the alliance, and getting all the guilds from the venom alliance to join, most ppl in the venom alliance spent there days spamming it, specialy insulting amp . its gonna take some getting used to but telling ppl to stfu is not the way to go.

I myself have been talking to ppl before at 4/5 in the morning and someone has told me to stfu when someone speaks like that to me am i really gonna pay attention, and thats the problem if people ask nicely then you may notice a difference.

Mate, leading a few MLs in the past month does not make you almighty and famous. You are doing a great service to this realm, but there have been more and bigger contibutions by the many ppl that are trying to keep these alliances and midgard together. The alliance rules regarding /AS chat are not harsh or restrictive. They do keep it from becoming a spam fest. /AS is a good tool when used well...

/as Is a chat like all other but it give a msg to many more than only in a grp/board/cg and BG, imo /as would be more free.

I see on other realms and guild i bin in that they trade and talk alot, it's really nice to see.

I think the Freddy's Alliences is the only alliences that got these seriouse rule that bla bla and so on, and havent seen it any other places.

Yes i guess you can call me a serious gamer, but i only have 2 fifties, played the game for about 8 months. But heck most players in dark age are serious about it, we pay to play it. For your information i have played computer since the monitors only had 2 colours, and rams was A ram...

And ofcourse i get upset when people piss me off ingame, even if it is a game. I also play to get away from the stressfull grey reality. Unlike you i dont see it in only black/white, to make this game a good experience for us all, we all have to compromize. It doesnt work if someone think they own alliance chat as their personal gibberish channel. Because then it gets frustrating in the game as well. And when people gets nasty on /as it affects the moral to all who reads it. And people get angry IRL, because someone is ruining their experience of the game.

Im sorry if im out of line posting here, and i thought prydwen.se was the official alliance site, how should i know about http://www.duskwave.com/fedaykin/forum I cant know about every forum on the web concerning fedaykin alliance. Even though this is a public forum, this is a matter that concerns alot of players (i think), i cant see how this is a "private matter".

You can tell from the thread name that this has something to do with 1 alliance, and if you dont want to know about it, you dont click it.. Its like a thread saying something with sb template, if youre not interested, you dont click it.

There are rules, and rules are made to be followed and when people break the rules they should be told to stop it, when they dont, they must be ready to, and expect to, face whatever consequence applies to the rules..

If the rules were different, and all could spam alliance chat recklessly, whats the point in having one?

This worried me alot when we joined Fed as tbh.. but I'm suprised to see that we've adapted well (afaik!?).. :4)

I have been playing daoc for about 2.5-3 years and i have nearly 3 lvl 50's im not a massive gamer and yes i admit i was the "Illegal" spammer along with several others but you have to remember this it is a game!, why do people get so stressed when they are playing a game! i play daoc because of the great social side of it and the wonderful friends ive made i have been in several alliances in my time and noticed that Fedaykin does have the most rules be that now or even pre ToA.

ImO you guys need to lighten up also because Venom Alliance was the best spam /as in the world when people got going no1 cared if there was a RR going on we just enjoyed chatting because DAoC is a very social game and if you take away peoples /as because they want a chat its just wrong. I kno you will say well use /gu but the majority of the time the people who you talk to arent in your guild. Throughout my time be that in WR, Nemesis, Lokis, Venom and various others i have always been one to support socialising. I disagree with spam such as " spamspamspamspamspamspamspam" which i have seen lol but people enjoy to chat and you think you will miss something important when people chat?.

You can still see the rest of /as and if theres anything big going on like a RR people will b like /as RR !!!! BLABLABLA i mean how can u miss that?! so just lighten up on the rules because you say you pay for the game and want your /as spam free we also pay for the game and want to socialise. Think about it, it makes sense. My 2 cents. xxx

The rules have been there for a long time, and for a reason.
You can always make an "alliance chat channel" where everybody that wanted to spam/ listen to spam could go. That way everybody that wanted to talk could talk to each other.

There is a BIG difference on an alliance of 4 small guilds and an alliance of 10 big guilds. If you join a new guild, adapt, make a new chat channel and tell everybody to join it, that way you can keep on making fun of Ucallme while people that wants to play, can play in peace and still see the important info coming up.

Yes sure a big part of daoc is socializing, i agree 100%. But by spamming /as you prevent people from doing that in guildchat, groupchat, battlegroup and chatgroups, atleast if the spam continues im gonna enlarge my chatbox even further, or simple click it off on all but my main channel. There is a reason large alliances have /as rules. I am not at all involved in the Fedaykin alliance, but I do very much understand the background of their anti-spam rules for /as. The thing is, normally you join a guild that fits your own level of social needs, and then you can control (by simply selecting the appropriate guild) the amount of spam going on in guildchat. Alliances are different--guilds typically join alliances (at least large alliances) to be able to have joint PvE and RvR raids as well as defend the realm, not for social reasons. The alliance chat is the common communications estate of the alliance, and to carelessly encroach upon this is disrespectful and improductive towards people in other guilds who do not share your own liberal views of spam. If you do not, if you continue to have your way with the best communications channel of your alliance, others will start turning off /as in their clients, thus defeating the whole point of the channel in the first place.

It's simple: If you want to spam, use guildchat. If you still feel the need to spam /as, then join a smaller alliance where this is accepted instead of whining about "lightening up" and "serious gamers", like some of the more uninformed people in this thread do. I mean, the clueless poster above who thought an alliance chat where the spam would go on and no one would care when the realm was being RRed is a good thing, well, what can I say? There is nothing to be said. That kind of attitude simply does not fit in a large RvR-oriented alliances, like the Fedaykin alliance appears to be.

What Thor666 who is a foot soldier of Danish Huscarls, not a officer at all, i like to see as the guild master, very much. When he is writing that he is annoyed, and when he is complaining against the spamm, it is nice for me to see, that a foot soldier of my guild, really has the same opinion as the #official# politics of our guild. Which means GENTLEMEN that by discussing and debating inside a guild, you can acheive that ppl actually decide for themselves. Im merely the representative of our ppl.

We have been in the fedaykin allince in 2 rounds. What made us go out once was that ppl couldnt agree on the spamm. or no spamm.

We will at any time respect the rules of the alliance. We will at any time respect the 3 great leaders we have. We will like the leaders have announced NOT tolerate reduculus spam, according to the rules for /AS.

I inform ppl about 2 things when they join our guild.

1. Internal rules of behavior in Danish Huscarls
2. External rules of behavior in the alliance chat.

If people does not agree they can join another guild, as simple as that.

We have had a very homogene alliance for a very long time. I think it is very annoying and sad to see that because we let 3-4 guilds join up, some members of the new guilds, cannot accept the rules we live after and we have been living good.

I dont like whitewashing of internal alliance matters on Freddys house either, so here is another reason to tell you please use www.prydwen.se for theese things.

First of all i hope ure " foot soldier" gets more respeced than his title, second of all, are u the king of Denmark? U deffenitly sound as it, Politics, My people, ... o brother, some ppl need to stress down seriously and get a life, watch it, i have nothing against u personally or ure guild, DH has been in my eyes a very descent guild who even come with great numbers to my raids. Nevertheless It is a game, And ppl need to lighten up BIG TIME. TBH this all started cause of me, its tru, I went in debate with it and now all this bullshit is taking place, its all a load of crap. this is spam, like he sais it, Yesterday was for me the last drop, the last time i go tpm'ed to do no spam, from now on ill just /ignore those ppl, i can't be bothered with it, its a lot of crapp, i said like 1 or 2 things and otehrs joined, we had a laugh, this as is worse than school, a job, or milatiry rules.

The problem with everyone saying if you dont like spam leave ur guild/alliance is there isnt really any alliances out there anymore, and as previously posted if people spam from what ive seen 99% of the time they stop if asked politly but most of the time people dont ask politly they tell you.
Theres enforcing alliance chat rules and then theres being rude.

And you can't just enter an alliance and expect to change the rules that have been there since it started. Getting on my nerves the people saying "there are no alternatives" even though I'm not even playing anymore, I know that a lot of people that DO play think as I do.
