Morning,

Yesterday I activated SpamAssassin on the 2 BW smtp relay servers. This provides a way for you to action what "we" would classify as spam.

All identified spam email has "*****SPAM*****" (minus the quotes) prepended to the subject line.

Also, within the message headers there are some headers similar to this:

X-Spam-Status: No, hits=2.4 required=7.0
tests=FROM_NAME_NO_SPACES,SMTPD_IN_RCVD,AWL
version=2.31
X-Spam-Level: **

These headers will exist in all emails regardless of whether they are spam. Now a simple email filter can direct all spam to the bin or a Spamfolder.

Enjoy.

(There are other enhancements coming soon....)

Excellent.

I run SpamAssassin on our mail server at work and have done for a number of months now. I was always hoping BW would do this as well sometime. :D

Just noticed that when I got some spam yesterday and thought to myself "that's pretty uber"

Coupled with the antivirus stuff, looks like I won't get anything remotely lame to my bw inbox, cheers :)

You will still get the spam email but its very easy to filter on it.

I am gonna be implementing user rules and the option of asking us to delete the spam before it gets to you based on a sliding hit point scale.

This will involve some patches being written by Zarjazz as the current implementation of SA does not do what we want it to.

That comes as very welcome considering that all the spam I get comes from my barrysworld account.. can't quite remember how that all started but I was considering getting rid of it untill now. You fabulous human being you.

Hmm, I already have triggers for spam management so I'm pretty darn bulletproof, SpamAssassin on my mailbox means that half of my mail rules and setup is now broken as the tech mailing lists get labelled spam... which they aren't...

Can u stick me on the whitelist plz DBs matey?

Cheers,
Xav

I want you to carry out somehow.

SPAM attaches even important mail.
Can't it return to a former state?

Right,

a primitive interface to the user settings for spamassassin is now running at http://php.barrysworld.com/sa/login.php .

You must provide your email address as your username and then your membership password.

Any issues report back to this thread please.

This is a beta level service and is prone to undergo change at any time.
