sound skipping

At first i thought it was DAoC and its great sound bug, now now FFXI has started doing it. After a few mins the sound just skips, or gets stuck and repeats it self. The thing is its only these 2 games that do it , everything else is fine
oh and btw i dont have a soundcard never have done and the problem only seams to of come up after i installed the New mobo and ram.

anyways my system specs are

AMD 1800+
2 x 512 DDR ram (2700)
K7 triton mobo
and some other stuff

reinstall DX
reinstall sound drivers
ensure your OS is patched up
check for viruses

Standard stuff really - may fix it - may not, but worth a try.
