Update for you

10 formats later i have finally found out why this audigy refuses to work. Last night my computer locked and had to format for it to work again. So, after the usualy crap of installing windows etc.. i get the msg " no audigy sound card found". Turns out, if your format your hard drive, the EEPROM chip on the soundcard that stors all its info and firm ware etc... gets partially wiped because it doesnt recognise the "ID sub system". Bugger me if i will EVER understand why but thats the way it is so now i have to go through a week of talking to a monkey technition before he will give me an RMA to send the damn card back :(

Lol you what?

That sounds too rediculous to be true... format your harddrive and it fucks your soundcard?

I think something else is wrong here!

No, Dime, i shit you not. Because when you format your HDD the subystem ID changes and this corrups the chip on the card. The only way you can fix it is putting it in a compaq computer (!). On the forum i read too, it had dumps off the chips of a corrupt card and one that works, and the info is different in each 1!

Im certainly not calling you a liar because obviously something has happened, thing is, show me some proof of this via an article or some sort of person writing about the experience and i'll gladly believe it.

I wasnt taking the piss earlier (i know only too well what it feels like when you know you're right about something and some lamer spouts the opposite in the vain attempt to help or take the piss) so sorry if it sounded like it. You can't help but feel this sounds a bit rediculous though, creative may have made more than a *slight oversight* here by the sound of it :/

hmm that sounds shit..

Format your Computer and you need a new Soundcard?

Was that intentional or are they working on a newer version of it?

There is no official statement, creative dont even 'recognise' it as a problem that needs to be fixed. Al they need to is put some kind of lock on the EEPROM chip that holds all the shit then it can never get reprogrammed, corrupted etc. Maybe they dont see it as something wrong because you can fix it just by putting into a Compaq PC (for some reason). Tech support person didnt even go into detail, just asked if it worked in another comp, said no then was told to just send it back. S/he just said sometimes cards go faulty from time to time

I think maybe the only work around is to take the card out before format

Already sent it back for a new one now, cost me £5.05 to insure it and have it sent via air mail :(
