Thoughts? I basically wanted all these artis in, I know I can get 'better' resists by dropping ctr, but the resists it gives + power and end conversion are great so no chance :)

ive got it, its just not user friendly when trying to load items compared to the older versions. I find it slow and clunky, and much much faster just to add a saved item with the stats for the 5 parts already saved.

Anyway, less spamming my thread with no comments! :p

o and mythical slot goes over caps .. so pointless including that in an sc as its not there to "replace" an item, its there in addition (so clearly as an avalonian sorc i'll be taking the 8dex + 8dexcap one ... or a better one at cl10 perhaps if such a thing exists).

ctr conversion is very over rated :l have it on my sm and on my rm :l and i think its soooooooooooo over rated if u plan on soloing with 27% pp its fine grp wise i'd get 34%+ tho personally oO

what epople forget is ctr also adds 5% to all secondary resists. Which in this template equates to ~31% resists spread over the magic and melee resists when yellow cleric resists and cl friar resists are up. That gives the item a uv of ~112 and adds between 3% and 4% to evey resist shown.

i didnt forget it tho bigchief :p trust me i've tried it out go try getting nuked with it off.. and nuked with it on ^^ melee'd with it off and melee'd with it on ^^ doesn't make a "godly diff" not saying dont use it :) was just saying its over rated

i've had it in my template for well over a year now, its something I really wanted in to try it, its something i'd be very reluctant to drop now. Its not 'godly' no but its a small amount of power and end and an extra 3% to every resist (or more). Its pretty damn good imo

since bc has already said enough about how ctr works and why he chose this kind of template (i tottaly agree with him)

im just gonna state this :



survivability > all .



if you prefer a template that has better %pp rather than 27% pp with 2 mcl charges and CTR it only means ur spending too much time in the battlements of a tower nuking ppl rather than participating in fg vs fg fights

Completely agree that CTR is a must. A really exceptional caster template needs CTR and decent hits overcap for surviability, every template can cap all the other stuff.

Possibly the best caster template ive ever seen, only a couple of different choices from mine.

Like i said i have ctr in my templates but i'm standing by how over rated it is.... and as for needing such and such for survivability thats so true and so untrue at the same time :p old template i used on rm didnt have ctr in.. had 52 con or so and like 137 hits had godly power pool tho... cant remember how many hits i had in totally but it was enough to survive perfectly fine new template he has on has 74 con annnnd 212 hits or so iirc + ctr and still as u can imagine.. survives perfectly fine lol oO just goes to show you do not 100% need this and that to survive... obviously would be better all round but still not 100% need factor

Nice template.

I wouldn't call CTR a must for a template however you can't look past the fact it has nice utility even without with conversion ability so it is an excellent item to have anyway.

Thing with CTR is, most people see it as :-

heat 4, cold 4, energy 4, matter 5, body 4, acuity 15 + some weak dmg conversion + aoe chants.

You should be seeing it as ...

heat 9, cold 9, energy 9, matter 9, body 9, slash 5, crush 5, thrust 5, acuity 15 + aoe chants + raises all resist caps by 5% + some weak power gain, and that is a must have item, or as much as any is in this game.

Not entirely true.. It's a secondary resist so works out around 3.7% not 5% unless your resist is zero.
It's still one of the first things I include in any template that can use it ofc..

Agreed, its not a secondary resist though, more a tertiary one, a damage reduction of 5% presumably after everything else. In essence theres a lot of truth to what you say, its not as simple as just adding 5% to each resist as I have claimed.

If you have low (25 or under resist) then it will be around 4-5%, if you have spec resists and or decent secondary resits (say 50% resists) then yep it will drop much further to around 2.5%.

Note that spell piercing will take away 10 from your primary resists, so if you where going into battle with say 20 fire resists, and face a fire wizzie with 10% piercing your CTR will still be doing 4.5% worth of prevention.
