Unlucky Hib !

Last nite a valiant attempt was made by Hibernia to wrest a relic away from Midguard, that is currently on loan to them.

A large force led by Wuren Gade and Laralyn Aaldemon, left Hib shores to recover items 'sneaked' out of their rightful homes, by a group of Midguardians a few weeks ago.
As we all know, this 'attack' took place between the hours of 0400hrs & 0600hrs in the small hours of the morning. This 'raid' in the writers opinion, was the most underhanded, sly and cowardly way of procurring the valuable assets of our realm 'Excalibur'.

On the contrary, the raid carried out by Hibernians last evening, was attempted during prime time playing time, and was glorious in its unfortunate failure. This is how 'Relic Raids' should be attempted, in the full view of all people who participate in this game, giving them ample time to react to what is happening, and therefore attempt to counteract the invasion. Anyway i digress...

The raid force arrived at the relic keep, after careful attention was paid to clearing a path to it, by a smaller force acting as a normal RP collecting group. This ensured that no attention was drawn to the hordes of Hibernians, champing at the bit, thirstily seeking revenge for the previous Mid 'raid', on that dark early morning mentioned previously.
This was almost the masterstroke, as we were well into the second door of the keep, before the first Middies were spotted in the area. The 2nd rather cunning slant to the raid, was not to take the usual keeps on the way, also not giving Midguard any undue notice of what was about to take place.
The only drawback to this well thought out plan, was the fact that rather a lot of well trained guards would have to be tackled and repeatedly killed if glory was to be ours.

Many rams were used in the attempt last nite, and co-ordination of this, and of the force in general was the best I have witnessed in my time playing this game. The difficulties of co-ordinating 100+ plus people is not obvious at first glance, but this is a situation when so many things can go horribly wrong.

The interior keep door was finally breached, although by now the continuous guard pop was starting to take it's toll, and the Midguard force was beginning to take shape and assemble outside of the keep and at HMG, to try and recapture what was now to be ours. Selene was soon to have the prize sitting snugly in her backpack. Many bodies now lay on the ground, and it was going to prove near impossible to secure the safe return of the relic to our lands. This was proved to be correct, as the dreaded report was flashed onto our screens.
News of our attempted strike had now spread to the rest of Hibernia, and i have never seen so many people standing on the pad waiting for Glasny to deliver us to our destination of choice.
At this point, Goa again reared their ugly heads. Time was of the essence, and it was essential that our force <now huge> could maintain the assault immediately, to counteract the Mids rebuilding of the keep doors, and organisation of their defences.
Had we been all able to port at this point, the outcome could have been entirely different. As it was, only a percentage of people were transferred and it took another 3 attempts to deliver the full amount of raiders to their destination. This was to be the end of this valiant assault, again as once b4 <zone crash>, caused by game mechanics and not through lack of effort or organisation. 'Demoralised', 'gutted', 'fucked off', or all of the above ?
But i won't dwell on this issue....

What i would like to dwell on, is that although we were 'beaten', this was a day when Hibernia was united again. It was a pleasure to be involved in this escapade, and made me realise why i actually play this game.
With the recent problems within the realm, it is a pleasure to be able to post this congratulatory message to all concerned on this board.
Again, special thanks and congrats to Wuren & Laralyn, but mainly a big GRATS! to all involved in a great night for the realm.
God only knows what superlatives i can come up with, when we almost certainly recover what is 'rightfully' ours - hehe.

ONWARDS & UPWARDS HIBERNIA !!

Footnote !!!

Apologies if my information on raid leaders is incorrect < See Wuren's post below> Any person who was influential in last nights proceedings has every right to be pleased. U know who u r :)

Dont give me any credit, all I did was write in caps.

It was Laralyn + Some others who I dont know who organised it(danita amongst others i think?) and Dinfar who lead the zerg.

Wuren, I think LA did a brilliant job of clearing the way for us without drawing undue attention, so even if you personally didn't organise it, you still deserve congratulations

The raid was great fun, well done to everyone involved in it's planning and execution. It was wonderful to see the realm working together.

It was a council of guild representatives who planned this the day before the raid
unfortunately when the fixed our arrived (7pm gmt) we had only 5-6 groups ready and up to about 8 who could come for sure
then i started to ask ppl from the guilds that could get a full group of lvl 40+ who all responded promptly and with much interest (thank you)
thus we had a strong force in mid when all started
LA with 2fgs secured the way but unfortunately one stealther got away :(
the rams (17?) were coordinated by Airazor (great job) and only on the 3rd door we had some minor delays

it was a great raid even tho we didnt achieve our goals and ppl had fun which is the most important part
