Woo, that's crazy. I guess it's something to do with licenses but other than that I haven't a clue. It's quite ludicrous though :)

Under the current law dancing is only allowed if premises have been granted a public entertainment licence. What is unclear however is the definition of dancing.

Sounds like either Westminster council are skint, killjoys, or the pub was holding a ceildh and pretending nothing was happening.;)

What is with the council being portrayed as "killjoys" ? They didn't actually attempt to stop people dancing did they ? I don't think there is any pending council directives to outlaw dancing, unless they've been taken over by the Taliban or something.

Westminster Council said : "Premises providing music and dancing are required as a matter of law to obtain a licence. For this reason our inspectors visit premises.

"The two premises of Pitcher and Piano were advised that they were encouraging music and dancing and that they should apply for a licence, they did not."

Seems to me the pubs got fair warning and did nothing, so they got fined, all the other stuff is just sensationalism. Any charges of "skint" or "killjoy" should be directed at the publicans.

If anyone feels like having a fit, set madbloke.gif as your desktop and tile it. It's quite fun!

Are you mad? Of course it's good! :)

Holland and the rest of Europe probably are better than the UK for pubs and clubs and the whole drinking thing.

It's sad thing that you have to be out of most establishments at 11pm still :(

I'm organising a night out for my work at the moment. We don't even get to the pub until 9.30, and we can stay there drinking until 3am.:D

I was just about to say something along those lines and quote the exact same bit of the article but I realised you'd already done it Cama :) (ps. kitten pics pls thx bye).

And how do you get an animated gif to work as your desktop background? When I try I just get a static Hitler :/

Yeah, I was sort of sitting on the fence when I said the council were killjoys or the pub was organising a ceildh (I read piped music as pipe music;)). They plead guilty, so I assume the pub was at fault.
