Rant Sometimes i hate my job :(

Well not hate but tired and frustrated

On call this week and for some reason its been a busy week for problems, i've been getting calls every morning from 4.30am onwards. Dealing with them then doing a full days work. Thought i would have a cheeky long morning in bed this morning as its the weekend. No such luck, the phone has been going every 10 mins since 4am. Fucking wish i got paid overtime for this And probably wont be able to go out and see my ladfriend today, havent seen her for over 2 weeks and all this bollocks going wrong means i wont be able to go out today

i get an allowance for being on call, set amount regardless if i have 1 call a week or 100

Though you're on your way to a situation i was in this week, sickleave due to insomnia due to work interfering with life.

I can sympathise with you. We go on call for a week and do half a day in the office on a saturday. In return we get a day off in lieu.
It's luck of the draw really as to whether we get no calls or 50.
Some weeks I'll get just one small call that involves me asking "have you turned it off and on again?" to get it fixed, to nursing knackered connections back to life remotely at 4:30am on a sunday.
The biggest drawback I find is not being able to drink since I need to be sober enough to a) help people and b) drive to the office if systems physically die.

Exactly the same here Kenny. I'm in the office now due to having problems VPNing in. I miss my mates birthday fun, but at least my ladyfriend is round tonight
