Something nice...

Our alliance had a WoW hunt this evening. Good turnout from many guilds and we yomped about Raumarik hunting down the half seen uglies. Hugi and Raumarik Revenant of course on the menu too. RR is most fun epic mob in Raum imo, lots of action when pulling.

Couple of things though tonight made me want to post about it.

Some special mentions for this hunt:

First, Vibeke, who showed up when we needed a healer badly. Was only lvl50 healer along for show.

Second...

Eye Of Odin.

Yes really.

There were a crew of EoO guys who were coming to Raum to do exactly the same as what we were up to. Without any hassle, fuss or arguing they moved their hunt to Darkness Falls.

Cheers to Evincar and the others for being really nice about it and letting us do our hunt without competing, it was appreciated.

Thanks to Carnalito for taking on the hassle of handling the drops and also to Mojojojo for scouting (and taxi service from Hug) and Brewzer for actually knowing how to use /loc :)

All the guilds that showed got drops, though of course when lotto'ing, not all got 1st choice (or 2nd or 3rd in some cases).

Some stupid highlights: Just taken down WoW - everyone gets booted off server. I was face down... come back on at bindpoint... TAXI! Doh! Only one to get this and I'm the one running the hunt.

Trying to lotto the drops: none of the bloody mobs would drop coin. Doh! Was sitting at my keyboard killing myself laughing.

Good hunt, nice to have been out there with you all.

don't suppose we got a drop at all?

Not that it really matters, seeing as most of them we're caster drops :D

About lotto...

This doesn't apply to that hunting party since you where more than on group I guess....

But why do people that are in only ONE group keep yelling/demanding lottoing items out ??

Autoloot is a lottery by itself, and if you got the drop in the first place why not keep it (if you can use it that is) ??

The lotto was only to determine pick order, everyone got something I think.

I think on single group hunts it happens because it is truly random: one person could end up with all the items theoretically. When a hunt lasts a few hours, totalling the items up at the end and sharing them out is really the fairest way and the lotto gives everyone a chance :)

Kor, if you're guild didn't get anything, PM me in game. We'll sort something out. As far as I'm aware all the guilds present at the end of the hunt got items, we counted 8 guilds in total.

Imagine winning on the lottery first (autoloot), then for all fairness let's give all that didn't win a chance to win once again...

Chance to get item via autoloot in full group is 1/8= 12.5% chance...

Then if that item is gonna be lottoed out again the chance of having it in the end is 1/8*1/8=1/64 and that's about 1.6%...

Well at the first lotto that is, then assuming first one in lotto is not eligable (sp?) for the next item to lotto out...

But still it's like one person getting the UBER drop and then if that thing is being lottoed out first, he only have a statistical chance of ending up with it in the end of 1.6%...hehe

Talking about fat chance *g*
ps 1.6% is rounded up for better figures ;)

I'm not a statistician, but the % chance to get item doesn't decrease, since you are trying to relate two unrelated pieces of random chance. The first has no effect on the second.

Anyway, the way we look at it, you are only the person holding the drop. You still have 1/8 chance of getting it, the same as everyone else :)

Actually I just remembered I have to PM you in game to sort something out we talked about a little while back, I'll try and do it tonight :)

Dook he didnt complain on EoO i think.
so chill :p or? :)

As WoWs is kinda hard to do with 2 partys around hunting them. But we (EoO) moved and let their alliance to do the hunt instaid.

Ah i understand dook now.
EoO isnt a bad guild really.
And it seems u are perhaps suprised we did something "good"
Like we talked about before. We have oki numbers with ppl ofc we get higher % of chance of getting "ewul" ppl in the guild.
But isnt like we dont give a shit about others.
And that u saw for example on that hunt...

Lol,

I see a lot of EoO bashing on these forums and when I spoke to Evincar last night I said to him I'd make sure peeps knew.

EoO weren't involved in our hunt and most guilds wouldn't change their itinerary for someone else. Getting all the peeps together is hassle enough, let alone shifting venue.

Like the title of the thread says... it was meant to be something nice, please don't take it any other way :)

I think someone did get a nice hammer Max, can't remember who though :)

But still it's like one person getting the UBER drop

Remember that it's not the person who gets the drop, its the guild.

Whenever CoH gets a drop from any lotto or hunt, it goes to the person who has the most use for it

I think this loot system works perfectly... I remember my early days of malmohus were higher levels had the pick of items.. it sucked big time, because we had 0% chance of getting items.

Autoloot is a lottery by itself, and if you got the drop in the first place why not keep it (if you can use it that is) ??

People need motivation to come to these hunts, and hunting WoWs for 3 hours only not to get a drop is hardly a motivating factor for going on these hunts.

At least with guild lotto, you know you get *something* out of it, even if you can't use it.

Besides, it would mean the group doing most damage would get all the drops, and that wouldn't be fair, since its a team effort, rather than a group effort.

CoH did, to the best of my knowledge, get drops.

Buddha recieved them on behalf of the guild and he allready distributed them out to the guild.

Dont kill me if i am wrong - just call me stupid ;D

Re: About lotto...

Just to clear things out, what I said was regarding a SINGLE group not this specific party ;)

What might have mislead someone here is actually a left out "e" ;)

Sentence should read:
"This doesn't apply to that hunting party since you where more than ONE group I guess"
(not "on group")

So, it had nothing to do with this hunt or a guild grouping, just a random group of 8 people
