Something I watched Last Night

It was BBC News 24 and had some french bloke saying how our economy is the envy of europe atm. However there were a few things that lead to concern which include our always crashing trains but what amazed me was that the French only work a 35 hour week and he personally gets 13 weeks holiday!!!!!

This all may me realise that we currently work way to hard and never seem to get enough time off. Most people in this country do 40+ weeks and only get a months holiday which really sucks arse

I work a 36 hour week [on paper] that averages out at around 55 hours in real life.
I get 180 hours [or 5 weeks holiday]

Seriously tho, I work for this Global company whose HQ is in Germany. I had to look after a couple of my German colleagues recently and we chatted about work hours etc.

They work 8 til 7 normally and I was telling them most of the UK staff were ready to go by 4.55pm!

When I heard about this survey that came out about UK being hardest workers in Europe I pissed me self

Its a fact....it has been for many years.....a few years ago the average hours people in the UK worked was 43.

I do a lot of work in both Germany and France.

My German colleagues laugh like drains when I tell them that 9-5 is the norm in UK ('cept muggins here, who works about 60-70 hours a week when on-site).

French work longer hours too but that's partly made up by the fact they have a 1-1/2 hour lunch most days (and at least two hours on friday).

Err, actually I sorta have long lunches too (unofficial of course.

Friday afternnons? They're a write off most times in the Summer .
