Gents,

I will need a TV.

It has to be HD ready, of decent size (probably at least 32") and of decent picture quality.

The floor is open to personal experience, LCD owners (for/against) and Plasma. Fire away.

My Philips is fucking great. 1080p ready; takes memory stick or SD cards, has a very cool motorised stand :), and most importantly a fantastic picture, even in SD. Downsides are the bezel makes the overall size a bit big and its quite expensive compared to LG etc.

Cheers guys,

Gaff, your panel gets great right ups although my only problem (along with other reviews) is that you pay a premium for not much more than something a good £500 cheaper.

I'm probably looking to spend £1200-£1500 ish.

Update, probably either:

Toshiba 32WLT66 - 32" LCD from Toshiba, great price (as little as £850), perfect size and a superb picture; got a demo in Sevenoaks. Also receives rave reviews and five stars from What HIFI S & V.

or:

Optoma/Themescene HD72i - HD ready DLP projector with 4 speed, 7 segment colour wheel, looks the bollocks.

The agony of choice :(

My Toshiba 32WLT58 is a nice tv, got it just before Xmas for just over a grand, and it great. Major plus point is that it has 2 HDMI sockets, which is a bonus in these days of Sky-HD and Hi-Def DVD, etc.

You might want to to get the replacement, the 32WLT66. It's quite cheap (seen online for ~£800).

Bear in mind the projector will take up less space, although obviously you need to shift your furniture to favour 'the wall'.

What about a hoooge dlp tv?

That has also crossed my mind, I demo'd a Sony high def 50" LCD back projection TV and it was pretty awesome, but it still suffered that narrow viewing angle problem.

Excellent picture.

Well, it's here - Themescene HD72i hi-def DLP projector.

"Fucking awesome" just about covers it, I hooked it up to the PC for some hi-def demo clips and I was blown away by the picture. Speechless.
