I've been reading some of the posts talking about cheat accusations.
While I would agree that many of these people are complete idiots, it may be worthwhile understanding where a lot come from.
I will give you my own experience as an example. I only started playing CS about 3 months ago. Before that I had never played an on-line game before.
When I finally got myself sorted out, I discovered a number of things that were extremely annoying. Not having any experience of on-line gaming before only made it worse.
These are the things I quickly discovered.
1. You are running along and see a player. You put your crosshairs on him and start shooting. You keep shooting. Eventually th e guy realises you are shooting at him and shoots back for about one-nanosecond. You die.
2. You see a player come out from behind an object. You retreat behind an object. Player you saw shoots you "round the corner". You die.
3. Player shoots you through a crate or wall. Next round you see a player go behind a crate or wall. You shoot through object. PLayer comes out from behind object and shoots. You die.
4. Player shoots you with a shotgun from all the way across the map.
5. You cannot shoot someone else with a shotgun from all the way across a map.
etc etc.
Of course I realise now, that a lot of these things are down to ping, skill and maybe a bit of luck. However, it is very frustrating to continually get shot when you are behind a wall etc and sometimes your temper gets the better of you.
Continual whining should of course be stamped upon, but remember those with dial up access will be experiencing something completely different from what you are so it may not be quite so obvious to them just how good you are.
Anyway, having said all that, why doesn't somebody run some kind of on-line instruction for CS? It's the only way I can see myself improving!
