Ok this is going to be long and i doubt many of you are interested in this but i'm bored (whats new).

Here is some proof that you can cast faster than 2 sec for each spell, Mythic said 2 sec is cap casting time. I know this has been prooved many times before but i wanted to do my own tests, and on top of that compare it to if Mastery of the Art RA affects the casting time when your dex already helped you to get below the 2.0 casting time.

Here are my tests i did, this is the first one and i did not have any buffs at all.

As you can see, with no buffs and only mastery of the art i cast for about, 2.27 sec per spell, wich i think its way to slow, feels like alot more.

38 casts in 65 sec
~1.71 cast/second

38 casts in 65 sec, this is with 314 dex (think that is my cap with buffs). And casting speed is around 1.71 / second. Not much of a difference but still it feels alot faster.

As i said, I really wonder if Mastery of the Art is included when your casting time is below 2.0 sec, because Mythic again said that this RA wont help you when your casting speed is below 2.0 sec. However alot of their maths prooved to be wrong and next test im going to do is to get Mastery of the Art 2 (3% faster casting time) and try it out again, with buffs + without buffs.

If MotA affects casting time affects while you are buffed, its definetly a good RA to get at least to level 3 if you got points for it, if it does not affect when you are buffed, i wouldnt put a single point into it.

I need 1 more realm level to get this, then i will do the remaining tests

Was looking at these and couldn't work out how the extra dex from buffs gave such a huge boost.
Unbuffed the casting time is 18.9% faster than base. Mythic have said it's 1% for every 10 dex over 50, so that 13% from dex, 3% from moa. Slightly off the actual, but within the margins of error.
With buffs though it should be 26.4% from dex and 3% from moa, for 29.4%, however it's actually 39%, quite a large difference. Also dex is allegedly capped at 300 (though there's some suspicion in this as con is also allegedy capped at 300, but in fact isn't capped at all). With capped dex it's only a 1.4% difference though so that's not particularly significant.

I have a theory though... What if quickness was also modifying casting time. The large boost between buffed an unbuffed is then explained by having a combined dex/qui spec buff on. I'm not sure what Tyka's quickness actually is, so I guessed 80 (as it happened to fit ) I ran the numbers and:
180 dex, 80 qui gives 13% dex, 3% qui, 3% moa for 19% boost, observed is 18.9%, that's damn close.
314 dex, 155 qui gives 26.4% dex, 10.5% qui, 3% moa for 39.9% boost, observed is 38.9% again very close.
However applying the cap to dex gives:
300 dex, 155 qui gives 25% dex, 10.5% qui, 3% moa for 38.6% boost, that's almost dead on.

It's hard to say conclusively without some more tests and knowing the quickness of the caster under test but it does look a lot like quickness is being factored into casting times. I'll see if I can grab a wizard and do a few more tests tonight.

BTW how did you go from 180 dex to 314 dex tyka, given that's 134 gained and buffs are capped to 125, item change?

I did a test with my shammie on camlann, with my small heal i got 1.76 or something, thats without any moa at all and 240 dex(not capped yet, must... farm.. itams!).

yes, i capped my dex unbuffed with other items + buffs, my cap with buffs and all that crap will never go above 314 anyways. hard cap for me.

Well buffs are capped at 50 base / 75 spec, so with 180 unbuffed dex you should have only been able to get 305 dex from buffs alone. The only thing I can think of which would allow a buff to go over 75% is maybe if the buffer had a few levels of MoArcane and that allows you to exceed the buff caps slightly (anyone checked that?).

I'll do some checks tonight if I can hopefully compairing a caster with equal dex and different amounts of quickness to see how much effect it has (just hope my clerics lowest dex/qui is near to his highest base dex buff )

Small heal is 2.25s base so getting below 2 should be pretty easy, the 2 secs cap doesn't seem to be right, I think it's more likely to be 1.5s as the hard cap on casting (same as melee, though I'm yet to find anyone who can cast a spell fast enough to check. )

Well the 2s is definitely completel bull, numerous people have tested and got below it. What the actual forumla for casting speed is I'm still not sure, did a bunch of tests today and came up with lots of numbers which contradict each other. Oh well.

My test subject (a wizard) with 285 dex and 152 qui and MoA 2 was able to achieve around a 40% increase to casting speed. That means his 2.8s spec nuke would cast in aproxximately 1.68 seconds, assuming a similar level of buffing a hib caster could get 5 nukes in one stun yes, however that assumes no resists on the target. With a more typical 26% heat you get 6.66 secs of stun meaning you can get about 4 nukes in a stun.
It's also why chanters are so powerful, ~1.5s baseline nukes means they can stun for 6.6s, debuff in 1.5s then still get 3 cap nukes off inside stun for around 1600 damage.
Without MoA I was able to get a 35% speed increase on spells (at 284 dex, 159 qui), that's a 1.82s nuke for those with a spec nuke.

BTW, here's the numbers I got from the tests (logs available on request, they're too damn big to post here ):

Something to not is, you seem to get a very large bonus from having dex over 250, something also seen in Tyka's test where the casting time buffed is increadibly fast compaired to unbuffed.
The formula for the dex and dex+qui bonus numbers is 1% per 10 points of the stat above 50.

From what I saw it appears MotA always affects casting speed as I wasn't able to get more than a 35% increase while my wizard friend with MotA2 was able to break 40% Given we have similar dexterity and quickness this definitely indicates that it's well worth have MotA even if you are usually buffed.

nice testing tika i always asked other casters about moa since it seemed uber, got it with my bard (only lvl1 yet, alrdy noticed the improvement while mezzing altho only lvl46 and dex cap blue buffed is 181 yet) And getting it soon with my runie

Don't think you can draw the conclusion it's worthless from one test tbh... Also my figures had it about 5-6% quicker than no mota, there's a reasonable margin for error in tests like this due to lag and the chat log timer only being 1s accurate.

If you can get 1.26s on nearsight that means it looks like there's no cap on spell casting speed, yet another mistake by Mythic...
