One thing I dont like about Daoc.
I prefer soloing in games (always have done)
However Mystic have made this game doubly harsh on the solo player in terms of RVR.
Options available to the RVR solo player....
Go in your own realm and defend the frontiers....
well u aint exactly gonna be much use there... you can hunt around looking for small groups of invaders, but you are not gurenteed to find any
You aint gonna be much use in any keep raid defense alone..(and these are generally piss boring and even with a high spec comp you are gonna grind to a virtual halt)
Next option, go into the enemy frontier.
Well alone it literally takes 20-30 mins to navigate to the zones where you can find balanced con players.....
You may well be gurenteed the odd kill but sooner or later you will get rumbled....
The basic problem with RVR in Daoc is that it requires far to much travelling to do anything.... And when u get there, if luck is not on your side you'll be /releasing b4 you even get going....
One thing I have noticed.....
I camped castle sauvage and vindsaul faste for one hour and observed what lvl players came out of the gates.....
Basically about 80% of the players coming out of Mid were conning orange and red to me at lvl 39
Albion was a lot more varied... Seemed to be all different cons...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I gotta admit it was a buzz, sneaking all the way to castle sauvage (nailed a few greys on the way ((fuck em))) but again the infamous guard patrol pulled down my pants and raped me again.... (im sure I saw a smirk on there face as they ran after me)
(why oh why they have these patrols still baffles me, it kills RVR for the soloer, and even most groups I should imagine)
I also managed to nail a yellow at vindsaul faste, but shortly afterwards the area was swarming with red conned Mids and it didnt take them long to find my sorry stealthed ass....
Even though the buzz from being that close to the enemies front door is good, the time factor envolved with getting there and having to work your way there every time you die, just aint worth it....
Bring on darkness falls......
