Can anyone explain why the SoM encounter always seems to be bugged. Last night there was reports of it being bugged and when i checked it again the encounter was down. I then checked it at 5am this morning and the encounter was back up but the statue wouldn't give out the cloak. I'm guessing this ain't a bug with game code or just a coincidence but someone exploiting it somehow. Anyone got any ideas?

It's not bugged.

ML6+ minstrels and scouts are just camping it 24/7.

When it spawn, they pick up the cloak and teleport away.

When someone then kills the sphinx, voila, they get the cloak.

Try to check around the area with a infil with MoS, usually you can find quite a few scouts/minc there.

Would normally not say on a public forum how people are bug abusing but the majority of people know anyways. Minstrels charge in and pick up the cloak from the statue. They then SoS out to the haven and when another group comes in and kills the sphinx, the minstrel gets the cloak appear in their inventory.

So yes, it's due to people expoliting a badly designed encounter.

To be fare, it's only a badly designed encounter in retrospect. It's the selfishness of people who are making it a problem, a problem which does need fixing agreed, but those greedy individuals should look at themselves first.

I was duped on too many occasions to even bother with it in the end.

ML5 on limit atm and had a feeling it was you aussie after seeing you in haven while running my bot there. Would be interesting to get a GM's view on this but its probably just working as intended. I thought though that when you removed the cloak from the area the encounter reset.

not a bannable offense, no point arguing or whining at goa, basicly - dont do SoM unless the cloak is there, then the sojos wont be able to get it for free, unless they do the encounter, the whole explooit rests on the fact that some poor sap comes along and actually does the encounter - the cloak.

I'm sure you would agree about thats it not intentionally written to work that way, ie its "bugged". And the CoC states that exploiting bugs is an offense.

The thing is i didnt know this bug exploit.
I said ban cause using this bug exploit is against the CoC its as if some1 was shotting u with a bug bow which 2shoot u :)
+ they didnt report this bug so they know what they were doing.
For me aslong as they get warn/ban or whatever that could avoid ppl doing this is fine with me.

Mythic has stated serveral times that this is NOT a bug (working as intended) and - therefor - not bannable.

(oh... and before the bunch of Sherlocks arrives: no, it wasn´t me who took the cloak. I have had exactly ONE SoM in my lifetime and that´s the one I bought and activated. ;)).

I think it gets fixed in another patch and sojurners cant port out :)

I was lucky enough one time to find a GM online who reset the encounter for me :fluffle:

Its not against the CoC, as the sojourner has already started the encounter. I wouldnt say it was a bug or exploit more like a griefing tactic. :twak:

I would love to see the sojurners face when it gets fixed and cant port :) you will see who has been abusing it when all the graves show up

Dunno if its a rumour but someone told me that if you talk whit the statue when the sphinx is at 10% or so you unbug the encounter and the sojourner-abuser scum lose the cloack, again i'm not even 1% sure about it, but maybe worth the try check next time you see the encounter bugged :)
