There's going to be wookies, so I won't be playing. After 30 seconds grouped with a wookie the blade would be sawing at my wrists.

it will come with a free month, all online rpgs do. unfortunatly im gonna have to fork out for a new pc just so i can run it :( its a VERY high spec game, almost too high spec for words. and its so detailed... put it this way, when you do /emote smile, your charecter actually smiles.. and when u type something they're mouth appears to move. so good. not to mention you can be a jedi :D

LMAO SW:G out in November - yer out of yer friggin' mind ? The game is still in early beta ! You sure are relying on old release dates Karam.

The developers THEMSELVES said that currently they're aiming for a december-january release (on a site like Gamespot it is listed as a december release), however they've already dropping hints it could - and in gaming industry this usually means it will - be later then this. Also the fact that the game still has a looooooong way to go make it very unlikely the developers will hit their deadlines.

Rumour is on the internet it will be even far more delayed, at Fat Babies they're even speculating on a september/october 2003 release (http://www.fatbabies.com/fatrumors.html#verant-incompetent).

Such a delay is quite common in gaming industry and hence not unlikely (for example SB was going to be released fall 2000).

I'll stay with DAoC for the time being :D ...

same shit going on in necron, it's kinda cool. but the reason swg will be so demanding is because of the hi-poly count and all those fancy new effects they're gonna toss in.

maybe if they make a pvp server i will try it..

i was just saying how detailed it is. but yea, the reason u need a high spec pc is coz of all the hugely nice graphics. they're using the new water system that can only be seen with a gforce 3 or above i think... where the water looks completely real.

You too!

Hopefully the SWG Forum will be full of his whining too, think I'm going to give SWG a miss the wannabe jedi/bounty hunter arsehole count is going to far too high, if I want to mindlessly sabre/frag people up I can play Jedi Knight on-line, gets a little repetative I know but at least I wont have to cash out for a new game (and graphics card too so it seems)

gonna be there day1, got the preordered and 3months payed by my mates in b-day present. So all i need now is to get it ;)

and about the beta... well its in early "public" testing, but its been tested for a loong time by the inhouse QnA teams (3 of them in fact) but i still think it will be january at the earliest tho.

But i dont mind the wait, hopefully theyll manage to iron out the bugs and minimise the nerfing (in the beginning anyway).

But it could be me wishfully thinking that not all companys can be Mythic-ish.

Another cool fact (on paper atleast) if you cant speak wookie for instance and the wookie cant speak your language they have to communicate with emotes (theres a boatload of them), as i said cool on paper but reality can (and prolly will after awhile) prove it wrong.

no thanks :)

Yeah just imagine, thousands of die-hard star wars fans who've never played an mmorpg before, powergamers looking for a new challenge, griefers looking for new victims, kids looking for the latest COOL thing, roleplayers trying to speak in accurate wookie growls - all thrown together in a FPS-clone with stats - all playing wookie/human jedis & bounty hunters with names like Lukie Skyywalker and Daarth Vaader. Sounds great ;)

Should be interesting to see if Lucasfilm's tight licence control & Verant's Vision (TM) are compatible, or will George Lucas get antsy when Smed starts nerfing jedis and bounty hunters because nobody wants to play a squidface engineer or any other class ;)

SWG will probably be the best thing ever . . .
. . . to happen to fantasy mmorpgs - clear out all the powergaming d00ds who were only playing EQ/DAoC for the challenge post-Quake. No sci-fi mmorpg, even SWG, could kill off fantasy ones like EQ/DAoC - there's always people who prefer swords to blasters. And theres also the thousands of people who said they'd never play another Verant game after some of the horrors in EQ ;)

I'm sure SWG will look very pretty though :)

Well hehe....
Shadowbane will be released about the same time i have more hope for that then SWG.
why?
Simply because shadowbane has been BEAT tested for more then a year.
SWG seem like a lunch break project to me.
on which the players will have to do all the beta testing.
and pay for it while their characters get nerfed... new bugs are added... bla bla
Kinda like Anarchy Online.

I will get Shadowbane, and keep my daoc account for a while if i dont like shadowbane.

However it looks very promising

... and some are saying that Shadowbane is total bollocks, likewise with SWG. Only time will tell. Most of the MMORPGs that get hyped up won't be anywhere near what the hype promised  Hopefully atleast one good MMORPG pops out with more content than DAoC/EQ/AC, etc...

theres no chance swg will flop. apart from the 15 5/5 reviews i've seen on amazon.com, sony/varent or whoevers making it wont let it flop. starwars is the biggest most succesful set of films of all time, they simply wont let this be a bad game. and anyway, with games like EQ under they're belt, which owns daoc severely, its bound to be amazing

Swing both ways on this, promises to be an amazing game. But they have yet to iron out the one major bug in the game, that will frankly not make it viable.

Friggin Nerds!!!!

Have you read some of their posts on the SWG boards!?!

Largest thread I saw was over who invented the DeathStar. The most potent death machine ever, the size of a small planet and the geeks have never heard of outsourcing and contractors. Of course 3 different races invented the deathstar, the first race probably bailed out after running into budgeting problems.

And all those subcontractors, they weren't the same species, hell all government contracts are covered by that sort of thing. And yes when they worked on the second one, they knew what they were getting themselves in for.

So no way am I going to play a game where a thousand nerds tell me I can't be a Wookie hairdresser for the Empire because it doesn't fit the "background". Its a game set in a made up world using the oldest story in the book. Play a game where everyone is a jedi wannabe?

No thanks

SWG won't flop - legions of SW fans will see to that. That doesn't mean it will be a good game. Its all rumours until release, and even then things change - look at EQ, its a lot different now than when I started playing 3 years ago.

Pot calling the kettle black? Stop trying to convince us DAoC is crap and EQ is godly (without reasons).

LOL Go and play EQ if you're so bored of DAoC. Then you might have a clue . . .

Just remember who invented class nerfs, downtime and endgame boredom in mmorpgs - it wasn't Mythic.

Endgame boredom features in Mythic's game much more than anything else I've tried, I don't know which EQ you played but the game only started at 60 for most people...
