Holy hell what is it with this weather in America?? Why did I move to this place?

Boston is supposed to get hit by a (literal) blizzard tomorrow with 24" of snow over the course of of the afternoon and night! They are saying it could be the biggest since '78. The governor has issued a driving ban after 12 noon...so probably no work for me! *Fingers crossed*

I was under the (seemingly wrong) assumption that boston is an every year snowy place.

They are preparing for it....that's the main reason behind the driving ban (read strong advisory they can't actually stop you)....they want people off the roads so they can salt/plow pretty much straight through the night. Plus 2 foot overnight isn't your average snowfall!

Heh nah, we just have a network of government machinery that roam around the country like automatons(awesome to wake up to the yellow light at 4am) and pile up the snow away from the streets/highway/whatnot, then grab the piles and take them somewhere secret.

Then other machinery salting roads and throwing gravel so people don't slip up and fall.

Then some workerbees on roofs to clear out excess snow at times to avoid people getting hit by it.

2010, i think, cost around 23million(33 after check) to maintain winter conditions for the capital.

It's coming down pretty heavy in NYC, mainly sleet at the moment, all the roads and pavements are covered in slush. Once it freezes, it's going to be dangerous being out and about.

To be honest it was fine. Boston are much better about dealing with this kinda thing. In the end we actually got almost 2 1/2 feet!

Well it might not be obvious from these pictures but the street was plowed about once per hour through the night. And also we are a side road so we are never going to get the same attention the main roads did.
