First bash at a smiting ToA template ;) (since all the other ones have healing bonus and crap like that and worst of all - no +smite!!!111 FFS!!!)

Gifv pointers - was trying to cap spell haste (which is 2% over actually but I've trimmed all the values so it shows the actual what you get) spell duration (which is a bitch) spell damage (can't - only 4% on GoV and that's all you'll ever find) and spell range + get some resist piercing (decided to get 5% passive and 5% active since the 10% cap is coming eventually) oh and use a spirit LW of course (using the 1.70 stats but can probably fiddle with the +con on the other items to use the old +con version rather than the new +str version)

I'm sure there's a lot of places it can be tweaked/improved (and no saying remove the +smite plenty of heal cleric templates around ;)) And probably some massive flaws (like the wrong realm version of something)

It has 3 artifacts (GoV, Crown of Zahur and Jacina's sash) which I'll never obtain anyway ;) but hey it's all fun.

I just wonder...

Most ppl seem to love messing around creating templates containing lvl 10 artifacts. Not just one artifact...but a zillion a template.

I hope most ppl do realize those things, some of them , take a friggin long time to level.

Or do all you ppl have those ...And all lvl 10 already?

So.... these pre designed templates would make a character a .....
total gimp.... nothing capped... nothing ok...

So rvr wise... you would be runnning around naked (sort o speak) :)

i know it is a lovely "passetemps" to do it but most artifact haven't got any decent utility till they reach lvl 6+.

So template wise..... yours is verry nice tbh.
To obtain a couple of those artifacts won't be easy either.

therefore i personally create templates with stuff i have and ready to use :)
i'm working on my clerical template btw... hard levelling
it will take a while before i can post it, but i will if i have it :)

artifacts in there: kalares, egg, ceremonial, scepter, healers embrace...
so by the year 2005 i'll prolly have them at level 10. I have seen the levelling speed in RVR, well>>>> degradation, levellig speed are A LOT WORSE there, so i'll stick to pve and pl them. Otherwise that templatewill beuseless by the time it is ready :)

my "gimp" template has 5 artifacts in it - they're getting there very slowly ;) but you gotta have goals :)

I won't bother getting the SC done for it till I've levelled my artifacts a bit though.

The above template I've not even thought about getting the jewelry/artifacts for yet, it's more of a "hrm if I was gonna get a max damage smite template what would I do?"


Someone on VN was saying that +% duration doesn't apply to mezz/stun spells - anyone know if that's true? (I'm sure it affected them at one point, whether it got nerfed or not I'm not sure) If it's true then I'll scrap the +duration and try and get +100 dex on it instead :).

i don't notice any difference on a sorc... zilch
first off all , all is dead before time expires :)
secondly: to undress... test it...get clothed again.... naaaaaah, don't feel like standing naked in the woods :) and SHIFT I take to long to use... to put it short ;-) just to lazy to test :)

still having a problem with reading i see. Dude, it's ironheart.

i can take that type of typos from a slag like chilly, because i realize it is hard for that bloke... hard life... But as for you.... it is ironheart...even SIR Ironheart. respect to your elders.

if you rely on casting damage then you have to max your dex, acuity, cast speed, as much +damage% and resist pierce as you can get, and any + range can't hurt. Pretty crappy template tbh, doesn't have to have great items, but i'd go for cloudsong, jacinas and erinys (or atlantis tablet) at least, and GoV. Theres loads of nice cleric drops from MLs and things to help you max power and stuff.

I realise these are super sucky items to get, and a whore to level, but smite already has damage issues and if you have any pretention of playing a smite cleric seriously i think you need to consider fully kitting them out.

(i'm guessing unless your in a dedicated smite group that your not going to be having spirit cabas debuffing for you, so resist pierce is a must, might want to consider a form of arcane leadership etc)

cast speed is capped
+spell damage is as much as you can get (you can only get 4% as a cleric - unless you know of any items with +spell damage against other than undead and animals that a cleric can get?)
the +duration is there becuase apparently it increases mezz/stun durations - anyone got any tests on this (or patch notes even)
resist pierce is capped at 10% - this has 5% passive and 5% active.
+range is capped

pie and dex are at the old 75 cap but not much +cap on them

it has jacinas and GoV already, erinys is caster only (not cleric) and i left out cloudsong becuase a: resist piercing is already capped with the Zahur charge, b: cast speed is already over cap and c: I wanted that nifty cloak with +10% duration

Now I posted it here for constructive advice (though I'm sure I'll get plenty of "ffs smite sucks" comments) and thanks for your comments but any chance you could actually read the template a bit closer and then comment again?

On the other comments:
If duration doesn't have an effect then I had a play around with it last night and can fit +25 dex cap onto it (anyone got a statuesque eye? :) or know who it drops from exactly?)

Will need to look into the effect of another +20 piety on smite damage... could be quite significant - might prefer that over +dex cap or even resists.

Couldn't be arsed with +hits but I guess I can see if I can fit them in ;) (I prefer resists - they work on CC too)

now any constructive suggestions like "ooh you haven't got uber item X in there you could use that and get more utility whilst keeping your cast speed capped" from anyone?

indeed - that'd be why I'm posting it here ;) (and not so people can slag ironheart or something - do I have to get out my mod stick?)

I'm sure even just tweaking the spellcrafted bits would let me fit some extra hits on it.

This is with mostly random gear twinked out with the uber smitor template I'll be a bit meaner.

Got Wild Power recently - crits are lubly :)

The delve on the 44 spec smite is 176 which is just short of a robe caster's baseline nuke. However generally I'll have a lot less piety than a caster will (no acuity buffs :() but it gives you an idea of what the max could be :)

cap is 528 without any bonuses if that helps
(compared to a fire wizzie with their cap of 657)
but getting to it is a bit more of a challenge :)

have you had a look if you could combine toa items with some of the SI, sidi drops. Maybee, because i think that some clerical stuff there had a huge surplus on some stats etc. , you could get to it faster?

like the blood spire belt...(maybee bad exemple) or something..

i just wonder because it seems that all gamers have forgotten that SI holds // held a dozen of "uber" items. I never seem to find someone making a template that mixes SI , TOa and Classical.

Other than Zahur's charge not always being up, I'd say okay.

from the looks of it all the celestius ones have a split with "Healing classes" getting cast speed and heal bonuses with "non healing classes" getting damage - not seen any celestius armour with +spell damage that's not cloth...

The tablet's not got that great utility though? the morph could be fun (smiting sobekites for fun) though so maybe ;) and swap zahur for sommit else .... one thing is that using zahur you get a 5% range bonus (that goes on top of the item 10% apparently) - I've not got a zahur so can anyone tell me how often it's usable and how long it lasts?

It also means I might be able to sneak in my Draug'yn sphere of smiting into the template (a: coz of the name! and b: because it has 20 charges of a 331 damage spirit DD )

As some magic types are pure damage (no CC), the comment about resists working on CC is a little moot, you could drop 1 or 2 resists and have another 300hp (or find some other items and cap all resists too).
think it's probably a habit thing really must cap resists! (hp? what's that?)

Maybe look at Atlantis Tablet or Moon Mace for more resist pierce, (mace being a simpler source of +castspeed too)

Moon mace means moon belt - so swapping it with jacinas to get a new mace... and the mace won't always be up - don't like to rely on that.

well if I have a tank on me I'll turn and bash it if I give him a 30% resist debuff to my groupmates damage that's not so bad (and it'll improve my pbaoe dd heh ;))

that and against mids it'll probably do better than normal melee damage heh

(Oh, and is it completely sacrilegious to suggest some more +healing and +rejuv?)
completely! (though I might try and get some +all instead of the +smite)

version 2 - even has some +%healing ;) ok so it's 5% instead of 10% like before.... still a bit crap on the +hits mind...

OK version 2 - I've still not got around to testing the duration bonus but for the sake of argument let's pretend you don't really care about duration :) or put +dex and +power much higher on the list.

Changes:
it now has 97 dex, 85 pie (decided +dex more important than +pie) and +35% effective power
but only 6% duration.

It uses an pre-1.70 LW for this (without it it loses some con and gains str so not so good)

Artifacts:
Cloudsong, Guard of Valor, Jacina's Sash, Ceremonial Bracers (dex), Kalare's Necklace, Crown of Zahur.

Will have 10% resist pierce more often now (both crown and cloak charges to use) but ouch on the levelling :)
