Silies are just a set of ascii chars that represent a rl feeling.

(the following smilies may apear in brackets, this is to show there real use.)

Most smilies used and changed to a pic by the forum software, So :) without - becomes :) these are normaly j-peg files, A single image to represent the rl feeling the is trying to show.

Spme smilies are .gif files, Theres are animated sets. A set of pics put togeather to form a single moving pic.

roflmao add : at either end and you get. :ROFLMAO:

Barrysworld has an ok collection of animated smilies,

:puke:  :m00:  :twak:

And many many more.

When you make a post, check them out. Left hand side of screen. Theres a link at bottom of them. [get more] Click that and watch them :)

Hope this helps.

P.S. BW have an image limit :p

In IE try "Extras->Internet Options->Advanced" (not sure if it's that way in the english IE, since mine isn't english, but it should be something like that).

There's an option to turn off animations on web pages. Make sure you got it activated :)

If that's not the problem I have no clue what could cause it. =/

hopefully this helps

Hopefully it's a UK IE u have as i am using an Irish one.. just the same as it...

Go into Tools , then Internet Options . Click on the Advanced Tab and scroll down to the Multimedia Section , now make sure Play Animations in Web Pages is ticked on.

This should allow your smilies to move m8 :D

Very odd problem - I don't suppose you use ZoneAlarm Pro do you? I use Opera and Internet Explorer as my browsers, both have the "Show Animations" set to on, but neither display any moving image at all :(

I think I will have a mess around with my settings, see what (if anything) I can come up with...

Right - for those that are interested - by completely killing ZoneAlarm, all the animations are working now....

Easily fixed..

Zonealarm see's the animated Smilies as Ads for some reason.
Go to privacy tab in ZA and set ad blocking to off...
This will solve your problem.
(Worked this one out when my avatar stopped smiting :()

Ahhh top job sir!

And to one up on you - you can leave Ad Blocking on, just take the tick out of "Animation" :D

Thank you!
